Emirates has been flying to South America since 2007, when it first began services to Sao Paulo. Today, the airline serves three destinations, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. Santiago de Chile will be launching on 5 July.
Buenos AiresBuenos Aires is one of South America’s most vibrant and exciting cities. It throbs with activity across an enormous 78 square miles, all the while moving at something of a relaxed pace. The city’s seductive combination of neoclassical architecture, cafe culture, nightlife and world-class restaurants has enough to do to keep visitors busy for months. The incredible cultural resources such as the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, the Japanese Gardens, and the stunning 19th century cafes are just some of the many attractions worth visiting.
In addition to its cultural offerings, Buenos Aires has a flourishing culinary scene that offers plenty of other choices, including delectable pastries and strong espressos in coffee shops, or delicate fusion dishes based mostly on fruit and veggies. The profusion of cafes and lounges makes this a fantastic city to sightsee in, giving tourists the opportunity to break up their day with lots of delicious stops that constantly keeps them refreshed and satiated.
Working off all that food is easy – try taking a tango class, or just joining in at a local tango club. If you're feeling more adventurous, take a polo lesson, and test your mettle at a sport that Argentineans love almost as much as football. Buenos Aires is a cosmopolitan city, with plenty of activities available,
EMIRATES AND SOUTH AMERICA
from theatre to live music to dance performances. However, visitors should always take time to simply wander the city’s diverse neighbourhoods and explore the traditional, the new, and everything in between. Among them, Palermo, the trendy neighbourhood du jour, is like a city within a city, large enough to have distinct subdivisions like Palermo Viejo, Palermo Hollywood, and Palermo Soho.
Emirates connects passengers to the vibrant city of Buenos Aires with a daily flight via Rio de Janeiro.
Sao Paulo São Paulo is a destination known for its size. Everything in the city is big, from the sprawling suburbs that seem to stretch out endlessly as the flight to São Paulo lands to a population that extends to 20 million in the greater metropolitan area. It's the largest city in the country and all of the Americas. However, in spite of its size, Sao Paulo is an energetic city full of world-class museums, parks, memorials, and sporting events scattered throughout. The finer things in life can also be found in abundance here, from luxury hotels and restaurants to cute cafes and all-night lounges. The city offers nearly 13,000 distinct restaurants to choose from, with dozens of international cuisines on the various menus around the city. One of the main local staples is pastel, a pastry envelope stuffed with all types of fillings, and then deep fried in vegetable oil. While its easy to spend the entire trip eating this delicious pastel at various small
4544
spots around the city culinary enthusiasts should not miss out eating at one or more of the best restaurants in São Paulo, the two standouts from which are Greek-themed Restaurante Acrópoles and D.O.M. – Chef Alex Atala's joint that is unlike anything else on the planet.
There's excitement around every corner, and literally a million nooks and crannies for tourists to explore, ensuring a never ending run of things to do.
Emirates flies daily to Sao Paulo utilising its iconic A380.
Rio de Janeiro A sun-soaked metropolis that nearly 6.5 million people call home, Rio de Janeiro is one of South America’s most sought after travel destinations and one of its most recognisable too. Along with the splendid beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema, there’s the majestic Sugarloaf Mountain that guards the bay and the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue that towers over the city.
The city has a reputation for ensuring that visitors have a good time, be it sunbathing on a perfect stretch of sand, socialising with the locals well into the early hours or using the city’s improved travel infrastructure to explore what’s on offer.
Rio de Janeiro is a foodie's paradise, with offerings ranging from quick and easy joints on the street or the beach to five-star high-class restaurants where the only thing better than the service is the food. The best restaurants in Rio de Janeiro start with Aprazível, hidden on a hilltop that overlooks the city, and Satyricon, which sits just off the water at Ipanema Beach.
For more traditional tastes, leão veloso, a seafood-based soup with lobster, olive oil, and onion, frequently served with tomato and saffron is a must try. Another popular local delicacy is coconut water, which comes fresh off the many trees, while fresh fruit juices are always just a bodega stop away. The local dessert of Quindim,
an egg yolk, sugar, and coconut cake, is the perfect dish to wind up a meal.
When it comes to accommodation, most areas in the city have dozens of options for every price range. Two of the best hotels in Rio de Janeiro near the sand and shore are Arena Copacabana Hotel and Hotel Maria Santa Teresa. Rio also has a lively and vibrant backpacking culture, and it's not unusual to see happy tourists with large packs and a smile on their face.
Emirates connects the world to Brazil with a daily flight to Rio de Janeiro.
ChileChile is one of the most stable and prosperous nations in South America filled with stunning landscapes, historic beauty, local charm and delectable foods. Chile has many different adventures to offer tourists: stargazing in the driest desert in the world, millennial glaciers in the southernmost part of the planet, enchanted forests, and lakes located at the foot of massive volcanoes.
Circled by snow-covered Andes mountains, Santiago boasts one of South America's most dramatic city settings. Santiago's arts scene is thriving, and visitors can explore a plethora of museums, such as La Chascona, dedicated to the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, and Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino, which explores indigenous Chilean culture.
Stop by the Plaza des Armas, the city's main square, to relax and people watch for a taste of the real Santiago. For another burst of arts, visit the hip Barrio Brazil area, home to numerous museums and galleries. As night falls, hightail it to the Bellavista and Providencia neighbourhoods, where much of Santiago's nightlife and restaurants thrive.
Emirates will connect the world to Chile by flying five times a week from Dubai to Santiago, via the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo from July 5, 2018.

Ladies and gentlemen, dear friends,
Involved in equestrian sports for 140 years, Longines is proud to be the Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of all events organised by the Meydan Group, including the Dubai World Cup. As the culmination of the Dubai World Cup Carnival, this race day is not only the region’s premier equestrian event but also one of the United Arab Emirates’ biggest social and sporting rendezvous.
Besides providing the Dubai World Cup with its long-standing timekeeping expertise, Longines is delighted to lend its name to a highlight of the day, the Longines Dubai Sheema Classic, run over a distance of 2,400 meters.
During the Dubai World Cup, Longines is featuring the Conquest V.H.P. (Very High Precision) as the Official Watch of event. This timepiece represents a new achievement in the field of quartz, combining great precision, high technicality and a sporty look, marked by the brand’s unique elegance.
Ladies and gentlemen, dear friends, I wish you a wonderful time watching the races and taking part to the amazing festivities organized at the iconic Meydan Racecourse.
Juan-Carlos CapelliVice President and Head of International Marketing of Longines
LONGINES - A PASSION FOR EQUESTRIANISM As the Official Partner and Timekeeper of
the Dubai World Cup, the Swiss watch brand Longines is highlighting the Conquest V.H.P. (Very High Precision) as the Official Watch of the event.
The Conquest V.H.P. represents a new achievement in quartz watchmaking, combining great precision, high technicality and a sporty look, marked by the brand’s unique elegance.
Longines’ history with quartz has been one full of technical innovation and feats. In 1954, a quartz clock developed the brand set precision records. It was housed in the mythical Chronocinégines, an instrument that became a pioneer in the history of timekeeping, as it provided judges with a film strip composed of a series of prints at 1/100th of a second, allowing them to follow the movement of the athletes at the moment they crossed the finish line. In 1969, technological mastery led Longines to reveal the Ultra-Quartz, the first quartz movement intended to fit a wrist-watch. A huge stride was made in 1984 with the quartz calibre fitted in the Conquest V.H.P., setting a precision record for that time.
As an extension of these historic milestones, the winged hourglass brand is now presenting its new Conquest V.H.P., equipped with a movement developed exclusively for Longines. This movement is renowned for its high degree of precision for an analog watch (± 5 second/year) and its ability to reset its hands after an impact or exposure to a magnetic field, using the GPD (Gear Position Detection) system. These attractive features are likely responsible for its exceptional movement status, to which a very long battery life and a perpetual calendar must be added. In the true essence of Conquest, the ultimate sports line, this exceptional timepiece has thus positioned itself as the standard-bearer of extreme precision.
