About the Model Students at DeVry University Advantage Academy (DUAA) enroll in a dual-degree program that allows them to earn an associate degree from an accredited university while simultaneously completing their high school degree. DUAA Launched in Chicago in 2004 under former CEO of CPS, Arne Duncan, and expanded to two additional school districts in Columbus, OH and Decatur, GA. How it Works Advantage Academy is completed over two years and one summer. Students enroll during their sophomore year and begin coursework their junior year, then complete their senior year as well as one summer term. How We Perform Dual enrollment programs – where students take college level courses while in high school and graduate with a diploma and up to two years of college credit – are growing in popularity. And with good reason; programs like these don’t just benefit a student and their families financially. A three-year study by the Community College Research Center found that students who participated in a dual enrollment program are more likely than their peers to graduate high school, attend a four-year college instead of a two-year community college, needed fewer remedial classes while in college, and were more likely to stay in school and graduate. For almost ten years, DeVry University has been fostering a dual enrollment program called Advantage Academy with the single goal of improving college attainment for public high school students. About the ModelStudents at DeVry University Advantage Academy (DUAA) enroll in a dual-degree program that allows them to earn an associate degree from an accredited university while simultaneously completing their high school degree.

DUAA Launched in Chicago in 2004 under former CEO of CPS, Arne Duncan, and expanded to two additional school districts in Columbus, OH and Decatur, GA.

How it Works

Advantage Academy is completed over two years and one summer. Students enroll during their sophomore year and begin coursework their junior year, then complete their senior year as well as one summer term.

How We Perform

Dual enrollment programs – where students take college level courses while in high school and graduate with a diploma and up to two years of college credit – are growing in popularity.
