less.

than that of 4-STROKE engine.

• In petrol engine we require spark plugs to initiate ignition of A/F mixture. In DTSI instead of one sparkplug we have two plugs.

• These sparkplugs only initiate the spark when determined by microcomputers.

• It's ignition system is controlled by digital signals which is generated by pressing of a button which gets power from the batteries and delivers the DC signal to the ignition circuit which helps the spark plugs produce spark and ignites the mixture of fuel and air

• This leads to better combustion of fuel and air mixture and production of shear power .

• The engines are more powerful but, less fuel efficient.

• Costly maintenance of spark plugs when it is time to replace them.

• The engine tends to overheat and loose power at higher speeds as compared to a single plug engine.

• The engine wear and tear is increased and hence these engines need frequent check-up and overhaul to keep the performance level constant.

• DTSi is actually a simpler, cheaper and low-tech alternative to making more power and burning less fuel.

• However owners mistakenly think it is high-tech.

• A ‘Bajaj Patented Technology’. • Carburetor has been replaced by injector which injects fuel in

to the engine in a spray form • These instructions are based on Engine Control Unit (ECU)

which is a part of the Engine Management System EMS.• The Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is microprocessor based and

is the brain of the fuel injection system. It processes information sent by various sensors and instantly determines optimum fuelling and spark timing for various engine-operating conditions.

• The ECU contains detailed information of the engine's characteristics from which it picks the necessary data for commanding both fuelling & spark timing.

• Increased power output for same cc. • Better low-end torque. • Lower fuel delivery & optimisation of spark

timing. • Improved cold start quick warm-up and

excellent response to sudden acceleration. • Lower emission levels. • Self-detection and communication of fuel

system malfunctioning if any.

This new pulsar loses the Oil Cooled Engine and gets a Air cooled Engine, if you are travelling long distances oil cooled engines definitely help as they coolant takes care of heat thus avoiding engine damage, but with air cooled models and at high speeds you will need to chill for some time between long drives. So this is not a great move.Engine has been tweaked a little for high speed i.e. More Raw Horse Power.
