DT personnel matters

• New fellow: Alessandro Mapelli, start 01.07.2010, WP11 (detector cooling), supervisor P. 

Petagna

• Scientific associate: Bart Verlaat (NIKHEF, Amsterdam), start 1.9.2010 (for 1 year), CO2 cooling 

expert. Will work in DT cooling team. 

• Philippe Lancon will leave DT and start on 1 September in TE/VSC group (vacuum coating).

• Didier Gabriele. End of contract on 30 June. Will work as PJAS, affiliated to Austrian Institute, in 

medAustron project (Ion therapy).

• Doct. student A. Moraux (WP11) asked to terminate his contract end of July. Purely private 

reasons.

• Summer students: Mikko Viitala (FIN), Johannes Kaikkonen (FIN), Chris Lucas (UK). Maarten 

van Dijk.

• Two DT people currently in hospital: Richard Fortin, Paolo Petagna.  

New exhaust system on roof of B102 (EN dep. significantly reduced noise for people in B70, 166, 20/21

B20/21/168: Agreement with GS department for thorough repair of roof leaks. Will be done in second half of 2010.

In parallel: global review of the building (facade, insulation, windows, sanitary installations, infrastructure (electricity).

Global refurbishment of the building in 2011 ???

Eric David started on 1 July 1975 at CERN.  Today it’s 35 years.

Pierre-Ange Guidici and Francois Garnier successfully completed  first superconducting coil for AEgIS.

Felix Bergsma and Pierre-Ange measured the AMS permanent magnet  will fly to ISSon the very last flight  of the space shuttle (still this year).

Mar Capeans is back from her maternity leave.

MARS: Quite a few DT people obtained a promotion (new CP, SB, extra steps and premiums)
