• Physical• Emotional• Family• School• Social problems
LEGAL DRUGS THAT ARE ABUSED
• Prescribed drugs• Inhalants• Over the counter medicine
ILLEGAL DRUGS THAT ARE ABUSED• Marijuana• Stimulants• LSD• Heroin• Designer drugs
TEEN ABUSE OF PRESCRIPTION DRUGS• Up 33 percent
since 2008• 1 out of 4 abuse
them at least once
• Translates to 5 million teens
HOW THEY ARE ABUSED• Taking medication not prescribed to you• Unaware of dangers• Mostly with painkillers• Given by friends or relatives
HOW THEY ARE ABUSED• Taking a higher quantity than prescribed• Sometimes crush tablets and snort• Drug goes into bloodstream
HOW THEY ARE ABUSED• Taking drug for different purpose than
prescribed
• Adderall is used to increase academics
DRUG ABUSE EFFECTSShort term:
• Nausea • Dizziness• Delusions• Bleeding of the stomach

• Liver damage• Brain damage• Death by overdose
ALCOHOL ABUSE
• Alcoholism is a disease• Feeling compared to a feeling of hunger• Can cause problems with social life
SIGNS OF ALCOHOL ABUSE• Change in attitude• Depression• Issues at school• Lack of interest in anything
ALCOHOL ABUSE EFFECTS:
Short term: • Different perceptions of emotions, hearing, and vision
• Can lead to homicides and suicides

Long term:• Stomach ailments• Liver and heart damage• Memory loss• Central nervous system damage
