Other Miscellaneous Information/Reminders

1. Location of Key Lock Box/Combination – The keys to the Doylestown Presbyterian Church (DPC) van will be stored inside a lock box installed near the Church Street side entrance of DPC Andrews Hall (the Andrews Hall building is the light brick building across from the DPC parking lot where the van is kept). If you are facing the Church Street side entrance, to your left is a small black gate that leads down several stairs to a utility door.  The lock box will be installed near this utility door. The combination to the lock box is 2-5-8-3 (these are the numbers on the phone pad that correspond to the word B-L-U-E).

2. CSSH Van Box – There is a blue plastic box that will be kept in the back of the van and is labeled “CSSH”. This box is for CSSH use only and contains the following: black notebook with a hardcopy of Driver Resource Manual; $25.00 emergency gas card (see #3 below); Lysol spray; Clorox wipes; gloves; tissues; flashlight; and map of Bucks County. There will also be a magnetic CSSH sign for the van as well as several blankets in the back of the van that can be used to cover the cloth seats of the van.

3. Van Fuel – Doylestown Presbyterian Church (DPC) will ensure there is adequate gas in the van. If for any reason you arrive for your shift and notice that fuel is low, you can take the van to the following gas station, which is about 1 block from the DPC parking lot (directions are below). As long as you are driving the DPC van and tell them you are from the church, Liberty will fill the tank at no charge. You must get a receipt and leave a copy of the receipt with the driver log book/clipboard in the van. Also, please notify Ann Sweet and/or Doug Sharp so one of us can inform the DPC Business Administrator that gas was purchased.

Liberty Gas Station235 North Main StreetDoylestown, PA 18901-3729Hours of Operation*: Monday through Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

though you may know of alternate routes, the timing and mileage is based on the specified routes. Additionally, the routes are designed where possible to take drivers on major routes for safety; the local police are also aware of the routes and will know when CSSH has called a Code Blue and our drivers are on the road. Thus, for the safety of CSSH drivers and Guests, please stay on the specified routes.

5. Reminder – after each stop on the PM route, the Driver Attendant must call the CSSH Site Coordinator (i.e. Board Member) to report the number of male and female Guests picked up at each stop. This helps the volunteers at the Host Site to prepare for Guest arrival, and also assists the AM Drivers/Attendants to know to which stop Guests must be returned in the AM. Guests must be dropped off at the same stop at which they were picked up the night before.

6. If the Driver Attendant does not show up, call the CSSH Board Member on duty that night. Drivers should not be going out alone. Same goes if for any reason you are a female Driver and a female Driver Attendant shows up. There should always be 1 CSSH male present with a female volunteer.

7. If you are driving and encounter an accident or other delay, please phone the CSSH Board Member on duty that night at the Host Site to inform him/her that you are running late.

8. If you are involved in an accident with the van, and/or if the van should break down, etc., after calling 9-1-1, please notify the CSSH Board Member as well as the DPC Business Administrator (see #9 below).

9. Other Van Information – in the inside pocket of the driver door of the van, there is a small blue notebook. This contains the van registration information, etc., as well as the business card of the DPC Business Administrator – John Hank. His cell and home phone numbers are also included in this notebook.

10. Van Reminders:

a. The van key can be “fickle” – sometimes you must jiggle it a few times to open the door as well as to remove from the ignition.

b. The van key only opens the driver door. Once the door is open, press the “unlock” button on the inside of the driver door to unlock the passenger side doors.

c. The side doors of the van do not open from the outside. To open the side doors – once you are inside the van, reach behind the passenger seat and pull the dark gray handle on the inside of the back door (side door behind

passenger seat).

d. CSSH plans to use only the dark blue DPC van for Code Blue transportation; however, if for any reason the van is not working or available, it may be necessary for CSSH to use the larger white “People Mover”. The People Mover is slightly larger than the van. The inside console is identical to the van, but has an additional lower console that contains the switch to open the side door. You must hold the switch and continue holding to open the door; the same goes when closing. The door does not always shut completely so do not be alarmed if it does not seem airtight. Also located on this additional lower console is a switch for the inside van lights and the rear heat.

As with the van, the side mirrors of the People Mover adjust manually - there are 2 mirrors on each side. The lower mirrors on the driver and passenger side will help you to make sure you are driving within the road lane – i.e. when driving, periodically check the lower driver side mirror to ensure you are within the center yellow line on the road; likewise, check the lower passenger side mirror to ensure you are within the white line on the passenger side of the road.

11. Remember to put the magnetic CSSH sign on the side of the van before leaving the DPC parking lot; remove the sign after van use and place in back of van with CSSH Van Box.

12. Van is always returned to the DPC parking lot at the end of the evening and a.m routes.

13. Reminder to spray van with Lysol and/or wipe down with Clorox wipes after use.

14. Remember to return key to lock box after each shift. Thank you!
