Used to remove sand andsolid particles

Main features:

1. Efficient removal of solidparticles

2. Simple device

3. Has no moving parts

4. Minimum space

5. Low cost

HYDROCYCLONE FILTER

SCREEN FILTER

Screen filter: --The screens are usually cylindrical in

shape made of non-corrosive metal or plastic

material

Main features are: -

1. Simple and relatively low cost

2. Wide variety of filtration capacity

3. There is no depth of filtration – any

damage to screen cancels the filtration

action

GRAVEL FILTER

Sand or media filter: -

- 14” to 48” diameter

- Use swimming pool filter for

smaller systems

- Use pairs of canisters for larger

systems

- Back flush to clean

- Used for dirty water & consideredbest for organic contamination.

- these filters are effective againstboth organic and inorganicsuspended solid.

Page 7: Drip irrigation kvg

DISC FILTERDisc filter: -

- Stack of grooved wafers

- Provides more filter area than screen of same size

- Cannot handle sand well

FERTIGATION EQUIPMENT

- The direct application of fertilizer

through drip irrigation has increased

the efficient use of fertilizer along with

saving in labour and money.

- Application of fertilizer into

pressurized irrigation system is done

by either a by-pass pressure tank, or

by venture pump or direct injection

system.

AIR AND VACUUM RELEASE VALVES

PRESSURE REGULATORS

- These valves prevent soil being sucked

back into the emitters on system shutdown

or when the drip tape laterals are drained.

- Pressure regulators are generally used to

decrease the higher system pressure to the

lower required system pressure.

Page 10: Drip irrigation kvg

CHECK VALVES OR NON-RETURN

VALVES

- These valves are used to prevent

unwanted flow reversal.

- They are used to prevent

damaging back flow from the

system to avoid return flow of

chemicals and fertilizers from the

system into the water source itself

to avoid contamination of water

source.

MAIN AND SUB-MAIN LINE & BLOCK

ZONE VALVE

-Generally Rigid PVC and High

density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes are

used as main line & sub mainline.

-Sub main conveys water from main

line to individual laterals.

- These valves are open or

closed used to control the

flow through the main or

submain pipes.

DRIPPER

- Dripper discharge water from lateral on

the soil near the plants.

- They are made of plastic such as

polyethylene and polypropylene.

- Their discharge ranges between 1 to 10

lit/hr.

- Each dripper has its own

characteristics, advantages and

limitation, which determines its use.

- Types of dripper

1.Online dripper 2.Inline dripper

Page 13: Drip irrigation kvg

LATERALS

- The laterals/drip lines are normally

manufactured from LDPE (Low

Density Polyethylene).

- These pipes are generally laid above

the ground.

- Generally pipes having 10, 12,

16,20mm internal diameter

Page 14: Drip irrigation kvg

INTERCONNECTIONS

• Grommet and Takeoff: -

- These are used to connect the lateral to sub

main.

- Grommet act as a seal.

Page 15: Drip irrigation kvg

FLUSH VALVES AND PRESSURE

GAUGE

• Flush valves: -

It is provide at the end of each submain to flush out

the water and dirt accumulated at the end of the submain.

• Pressure gauge: -

It is used to indicate the operating pressure of drip

system
