What’s been going on…STEP UP

Last summer 15 young people spent a week working with top West End professionals, including the Musical Directors’ of Lion King and Joseph, the dance captain from Billy Elliot, and theassistant director of Enron and Cabaret.Street 2 Stage Musical MasterclassStreet 2 Stage Musical Masterclass developed skills in performance and in auditioning for drama school, including learning a Shakespeare monologue. It climaxed with a mock audition at the acclaimed Central School of Speech andDrama. The group also saw The Wizard of Ozof Oz and had a Q&A with Ade Bolaji (star of Ghost)

Christmas saw Battle of the FairyTales, where Snow White, Cinderellaand Sleeping Beauty competed forthe hand of the hand of theHandsome Prince in a game show hosted by the 3 Little Pigs! Advanced Youth Arts Leaders showcased their projects at Step UP at The Cockpit Theatre in May.

Don’t Close the Door was a hilarious and powerful new play by Victor Rios and Siobhan David O’Dean, both Street 2 Stage participants. In July ten young people took part in intensive Youth Arts Leadership Foundation, learning about child protection, how to plan a session, and what to do when things go wrong.

Become an Advanced Youth Arts Leader.Train in May at a residential weekend, then get a budget to run your own project and showcase at Step Up in October 2013. Past Step Up in October 2013.
