DRC Rowers @ Taree Summer Regatta The summer regatta was held last weekend Friday-Sunday. It featured some 611 Athletes and 3231 seats over the 3 days of racing in Hot! And Humid! conditions. Whilst DRC’s contingent was small with only 5 x Competing Members and 2 x Recreational Members we made our presence felt with some great results in all DRC and composite crews. Good times had by all. A copy of all DRC’s results are below but some highlights were. DRC Highlights • Mixed Quad: 1 st :Composite with (Lindy Nisbett, new member Gabrielle Hawthorthwaite, Katrina Reynolds (DRC Rec). • MMI8: 1 st : Composite (John Mitchell) • WMG4-: 1 st Composite (Lindy) • WMG8+: 1 st Composite (Lindy, Alex Warner, Lydia Milanovic) • MMI4- : 1 st Composite (John) • WME2-: 1 st Composite (Lindy) • WME2x: 1 st Composite (Lindy) • WMG2x: 1 st All DRC Crew. Alex & Lydia & Some great minor placings for Lindy and Gabrielle in Single sculls. Ancient Mariners DRC has a history of supporting the oldest masters rowers which is appreciated by the Ancient Mariners. DRC rowers included in this crew were John Mitchell and Rod Keable (Rec.). The Ancient Mariners missed the skills of Graham Wearne who could not make it to Taree this year. Alex Leitch (BMRC) substituted and did a great job. The Ancient Mariners continued to forge strong links with other clubs in particular Armidale Rowing Club in putting together many successful Composite crews.
