•Construct four small circles within a larger circle inscribed within a square

•Duplicate the small circles at a smaller radius, and terminate all at the intersection points

Quatrefoil construction

Page 3: Drawing A Quatrefoil

Step 1: Draw a vertical line and a horizontal line intersecting at point A in the centre of the page

Page 4: Drawing A Quatrefoil

Step 2: Centre compasses at A and draw a circle radius 100mm

Page 5: Drawing A Quatrefoil

Step 3: Construct a square outside the circle.

Step 4: Join the square’s diagonals through the centre point A

Page 7: Drawing A Quatrefoil

Step 5: Scribe arcs with radius 65mm across the diagonals

Page 8: Drawing A Quatrefoil

Step 6: Inscribe circles radius 50mm on the original centre lines at B C D and E so that they fit exactly within the first circle. Terminate circles where they intersect

Step 7: Duplicate circles using the same centres B C D and E and radius 45mm. Terminate circles where they intersect with the arcs drawn in Step 5
