Barricade Drainage Wrap creates a clear, directional, drainage path by creating an airspace between the sheathing and exterior cladding that allows water to drain down and out. Because Barricade Drainage Wrap is a semi-permeable wrap, any moisture or water that happens to get past the material can drain and dry to the exterior of the home.

Defend Against Inward Solar Vapor Drive

Any liquid water (wind driven rain) that has accumulated on the surface of the drainage plane can be evaporated and turned into a gas by the sun. In addition, during hot summer months, warm moisture laden air (vapor) can get driven into the wall by solar heat towards the cool conditioned and drier air on the inside of the home. The driving force of the moisture vapor by the sun into the wall envelope is a phenomenon known as “inward solar vapor drive.”

Perfectly Designed For Stucco and EIFS

Because of conventional housewrap’s smooth surface, stucco has the ability to bond tightly to the housewrap when used by itself. This tight contact creates something known as the “tenting effect” and can destroy the water repellency of housewrap because of the pressure exerted by the stucco when it is directly applied. The stucco creates “capillary continuity” and as a result, the housewrap cannot properly defend against water intrusion when used as a single layer.

When a primary layer of felt paper or paper backed wire lath is properly installed over the surface of Barricade Drainage Wrap, a “bond break” is created and thus dramatically improves and enhances the drainage properties of the stucco system.
