HALLOWEEN COSTUMES
Students may bring costumes to school on Tuesday, October 31st. They should not wear them to school in the morning. Students who bring a costume will have time to change during the afternoon recess for a hall-way parade through each of the classrooms. It’s im-portant that students avoid wearing costumes that may be inappropriate for a school environment. That includes anything that is gruesome, gory, or involves pretend or toy weapons and other implements. Please keep in mind that our busses will not allow cumber-some items that may potentially block aisles or seats. Because of these guidelines, it may not work for some students to use their actual Halloween costume at school. Thank you for helping us maintain a fun and wholesome fall event for our students.

From the Principal
Thank you so much for the warm welcome from
students, staff members, and the Ness commu-
nity!
We have experienced so much and it’s only Sep-
tember…Back to School Night, Valley Fest pa-
rade, World Character Trait Day, & visits to the
Outdoor Learning Center, WOW!
As the Ness family begins to dig into the work
of learning for 2017-18, our core values deter-
mine how we prepare all children to achieve
their fullest potential!
Please continue to come in to Ness and see
what joyful learning looks and sounds like!
Happy October, Mrs. Theresa Kendall
Fun Facts
Pumpkin flowers are edible.
In early colonial times, pumpkins were used as an ingredient for the crust of pies,
not the filling.

ACTIVE FOR YOUTH
Nonprofit Cross Country Program
Dear Cross Country Families!
We are so excited to share this season with you and your kids.
Active for youth is a great program for the kids and our school to
be a part of! We are looking forward to our first meet on October
3rd at West Valley High School!
We have been lucky to have this program fully funded for us.
Everything from bussing, to the people running the meets, is all
paid for by Active for Youth. To help out with continuing this
wonderful program we are going to put together a basket to be
auctioned off at the annual Active 4 Youth fundraiser. We will be
putting together a “Pet” themed basket. If you are able to donate
something for this basket please return the items by October 3rd
to Miss. Bell.
Suggested items:
Dog or Cat treats, toys, collars, dishes, pet store gift cards or any-
thing else you think of!
For more information on the fundraiser please visit the following
