Executive Summary

This is the public deliverable D7.1 Project Presentation of the FP7 project 3D-PITOTI (ICT-600545). This work was carried out as part of WP7 Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation, in particular work related to T7.2 Presentation of the project. This deliverable presents the current project web site, brochure, poster and newsletter and describes the rationale behind the designs and the aims for future versions of these publications.

1. Introduction

This is the public deliverable D7.1 Project Presentation of the FP7 project 3D-PITOTI (ICT-600545). This work was carried out as part of WP7 Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation, in particular work related to T7.2 Presentation of the project. The objectives of this task are to:

- Create and constantly update project presentation material (e.g. website, posters, leaflets) for raising awareness of the project and getting stakeholders involved.

- Provide regular information about the project and its result to target audiences. This deliverable presents the current:

Project web site

Brochure

Poster

Newsletter.

2. Project web site

The project website was launched with its initial design in September 2013. It will be further developed during year one and will be regularly updated throughout the project. It was built and will be run by CCSP as webmaster and regularly updated by a website development team consisting of members from different partners.

2.1. Design of the website

The design of the project website was created to work on a wide range of contemporary internet devices – from desktop PCs to mobile phones. That is why the design has been kept simple with a clear structure. The initial website content covers information about the project in general, the individual fields of interest and innovation in particular, all project news and dissemination events as well as contact information. The structure of the site will be enhanced during the next two years as project results can be shown. The web site will include a download section, where all public deliverables and documents can be accessed. A multimedia section will show the first scanning results and videos.

2.2. Layout of the website

As mentioned above, the website is designed to work on a wide range of contemporary internet devices. That is why the design has been kept simple with a clear structure. It also contains several levels of detail for some entries. Basic information is depicted immediately and further content can be accessed via an expand button highlighted by the arrows in Figure 3.

3. Brochure

Throughout the project, two or three different brochures will be created reflecting the current state and goals of the project. All brochures will direct audiences to the project web site so further information can be obtained as the user requires. The initial brochure presents the project and the Consortium, reviews the background and technological rationale for undertaking the initiative, predicts likely impacts and aims to attract interest from parties recognising potential profitable participation. To accomplish to these purposes we have chosen to organize the brochures in a fold-out leaflet with four pages. This design has been chosen for two reasons: 1. The four foldable pages allows for the use of readable fonts and a structured layout to ensure readability of the text and 2. This type of layout allows for the necessary contents to be laid out in a logical fashion whilst allowing the reader to access the main points at a first glance. The graphics are inspired by the patterns which occur in the project research. We have worked on the breakdown of the tri-dimensional polygons from meshes obtained from scanned images, converting them in graphic signs and in frame to accommodate the photos and recreate some features such as the bullet points. The photos have been selected to follow the steps of the project and represent all of the project partners. The colours are the ones that represent both the territory and the technology. The green (which is the main colour of the Lombardy region) and grey, with its cold nuance, recalls the engraved rocks, as land-art, with the "hardness" of the technological documentation.

The brochures will be printed and distributed to all partners. Whenever the occasion fits, project partners will distribute and represent the project at suitable events. Brochures along with posters will serve as their presentation media.

4. Poster

A generic poster was created in order to represent the project visually and draw attention to it whenever displayed. The first poster follows the same design guidelines as the brochure, with the same graphic concept and the same text. Different posters will be created to be adapted to the ongoing situations (such as conferences, seminar and other events), with ad hoc customisation as required. The size of the poster will be A0.

5. Newsletter

An initial press release has been written by the Project Management Board. Each partner has published a version of it on their own organisations’ website, focussing on their respective field of expertise. Official press releases will be agreed on from time to time as the project progresses and released by each partner in their respective country/fields. While preparing a stakeholder workshop in Weimar in September 2013, the consortium assembled a list of people that may be especially interested in the project. This mailing list will be used to distribute any particular news or information requests which aim to involve stakeholders and/or get feedback on particular aspects of the project.

6. Conclusions

The 3D-PITOTI project will be presented through the project web site, brochure, posters and newsletters, the initial designs of which are presented in this report. The project web site can be accessed through http://www.3d-pitoti.eu/. Consideration will be given in year two of the project to the use of social media such as Facebook and Twitter for dissemination of project results and events.
