• ItwasthenagreedthroughcorrespondencebetweenRoseHendersontheIFSWAsiaPacificVicePresidentandRoryTruelltheIFSWSecretaryGeneralthataTermsofReference(TOR)wouldbedraftedandpresentedtotheIFSWExecutiveAssemblyinJuly2017.
Purpose of Group • Toreview,reportandmakerecommendationstoIFSWonGlobalTradeAgreements,Trade
andthePrivatisationofPublicServicesinordertocriticallyassesstheireffectson:o SocialCareServiceUsers(includingtheirfamily/supportpersons)o TheEnvironmento HumanRightso PublicGoodsandtheirSustainabilityo Wellbeingo SocialWorko SocialWorkersandrelatedstaffo OtherSocialServicesectors
• TocollateinformationgloballybydevelopingaglobalnetworkofmemberswhocanbothgatheranddisseminateinformationandincreaseSocialWorkknowledgeofrelevantinformationonGlobalTradeAgreements,TradeandthePrivatisationofPublicServices.
• TodevelopSocialWorkliaisonwithrelevantglobalIGOsandNGOs• TorecommendpoliciesandactionstoIFSWfortheirmembers• Todevelopacommunicationsstrategywhichcould:
• Heightenglobalawarenessofthecriticalimpactofglobaltradeagreements,tradeandtheprivatisationofpublicservicesoncommunitiesandindividuals.
• Includethedevelopmentofamediastrategythatwillincludeasharedlogo,useofsocialmediaandcommunityactions.
• Includethedevelopmentofastrategyfocussingonorganisationsatalocal,regionalandinternationallevels.
Membership • MembershipisopentosocialworkerswhoseprofessionalbodyisamemberofIFSW.The
processofjoiningthegroupshallbethroughapplicationtothefoundingmembers.• Currentlytherearenorestrictionsonnumbers• Representativesfromotherorganisationsandprofessionscanbeinvitedtocontribute:for
examplelawyers,unionofficialsetc.• Currentlythetermofmembershipis4yearsandcanberenewed• Tohelpinfacilitationthegroupwillappointacoordinator,rotatingthroughthegroupona
six(6)monthlybasisandtobeapointofcontactformembersofthegroupandanynewapplicants.
Accountability
• ReportswillbemadetoIFSWannuallyandasrequired
Review
• ThegroupwillholdareviewofitsworkandTORSbiannuallyorannuallydependingonresourcesavailable
Working Methods
• Thegroupmemberswillbeengagedininvestigativeresearchandco-authoringreports/articlesfromthegroup
• WillincludethesharingofInformationandresources• Informationwillbesharedverballyandbyemailandisconfidentialtothegrouppriortoany
publication• Copyrightwillbesharedbetweencontributingauthors• AwebspaceonIFSWwebsitewillberequested
Meetings • Bi-Monthly(ormorefrequentlyifrequired)Skypemeetingsandothermeansiffundingis
available• Organisedbythefoundingmembersinitiallyandthenrotatedthroughthemembers• Itemsfordiscussionwillbeproposedbymembersatleast10daysbeforethemeetingand
thendisseminatedtomembers
