Efforts Informing WG Agenda

• We will discuss today and on an ongoing basis key trends and issues that the workgroup should consider.

• Examples of Consumer eHealth policy issues include, but are not limited to:– Regulatory gaps post MU3– Mobile health (mHealth) including remote monitoring– Disparities– Consumer role in advancing interoperability

• The workgroup will collaborate with other Workgroups on:– Big data and predictive analytics – Usability of consumer-facing tools– Genomics– Care Planning

Charge

• The Consumer Workgroup will provide input and make recommendations on policy issues or opportunities to use health IT to:– Engage consumers and families in their own health and health

care– Enable consumer-provider partnerships supported by health IT– Elevate consumer voices to shape health system transformation

• The Workgroup will consider issues in light of existing policies and programs. The Workgroup will collaborate with other workgroups to address consumer engagement concerns that are critical to deliberations.

Summary of Previous Discussion

• Integration of medical/clinical with community- based social supports

• Using EHR information to get to person centered quality measures

• How is health IT policy impacting consumers today, are there issues we need to address to protect the public investment?

• Care planning – documenting goals and concordance, advanced care plans and social determinants of health
