MoST was established by CPA order 24 in 2003.
MoST was formed from merging:
1. Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission (IAEC)
2. Fourteen research oriented state-owned companies or directorates from Military Industrialization Commission (MIC)
A new law for the ministry was draft and is now in the Council of Ministers.
MoST is organized into seven scientific directorates:
1. Agriculture and Food Technology.2. Water and Environmental Research and
Technology.3. Information Technology.4. Space Technology and Communication.5. Renewable Energy Research.6. Material Chemistry and Physics Research.7. Industrial Development Research and
Development.
