Transions can be happy occasions or sad occasions or both. Transions can provide much celebraon or apprehension. Transions can be mes in which we delight or have great dread. These transions are family related (marriage, children), work related (new job, rerement), health related (bad diagnosis, broken bone), and relaonship related (death of loved one, new relaonship, divorce). The one certain thing in life is that all of us will experience transions or changes. It seems that May is the month that has a lot of aenon focused on transions. It is the month that all of our children either conclude another school year or are almost there. For a special group it is especially an important transional me as they graduate from high school or college. We applaud this group and their parents. Some of our members have experienced a painful transion in the last year. We have buried their family members, our church family members, when they finished their earthly journeys and entered their eternal rewards. Losing a mate, a parent, or another family member creates a me of adjustment that is quite difficult. We will remember this group and celebrate their good lives in our special Memorial service in our evening service of May 24. On Mother’s Day, May 10, we will again do something in honor or memory of our moms. Dr. David Hardage, the Execuve Director of Texas Bapsts, has declared that no mother should experience the hunger of her child. He has asked us as Texas Bapsts to receive a special hunger offering on Mother’s Day, challenging us to receive $1 million for this purpose on this one day. On Mother’s Day I invite you to bring a designated offering for hunger as a way to honor or remember your mother, and we will send it to moms in economic need. Finally, we are grateful to God for the transions that are taking place in our Ministry Leadership Team. Jeff Fuqua will assume his new posion as our Minister of Educaon on May 17. Brian Sadler will be with us in view of a call as our Minister to Students on May 3. These are excing days as we finish interim mes and pray for God’s guidance going forward. Transitions in life happen both by human choices and by uninvited circumstances. Transitions can be happy occasions or sad occasions or both. Transitions can provide much celebration or apprehension. Transitions can be times in which we delight or have great dread. These transitions are family related (marriage, children), work related (new job, retirement), health related (bad diagnosis, broken bone), and relationship related (death of loved one, new relationship, divorce). The one certain thing in life is that all of us will experience transitions or changes. It seems that May is the month that has a lot of attention focused on transitions. It is the month that all of our children either conclude another school year or are almost there. OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE

Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people. Ephesians 6:7. God creates each of us with different abilities, interests, and strengths we can use to serve Him in the Church. We can’t all be Sunday School teachers or preachers, but we all can serve Him in some way. From rocking a baby to pulling weeds to greeting people with a smile and a handshake; there is something everyone can do to find a place of service here at South Main. Contact me and I will help you find your place to serve. Kelley Trimble
