HIGHLIGHTS ‣ Recognized as Senior Key Expert - Robotics & Autonomous Systems within Siemens AG.

• Technical lead of the ADAS Program. Head of R&D Data Analytics Center. ‣ Successfully transferred key autonomous driving technologies from Volkswagen Group

Research to their truck brands (MAN Truck & Bus and Scania). ‣ Strong algorithm knowledge within the robotics and autonomous driving domains. ‣ Recipient of the prestigious Australian Government’s Science and Industrial Endowment Fund

Postdoctoral Fellowship and the International Postgraduate Research Scholarship. ‣ Strong leadership and interpersonal skills demonstrated through setting up of several new teams.

My strengths include a broad technical knowledge, the abilities to think out of the box, collaborate across teams and domains, keep many balls in the air at the same time and be a role model to achieve exceptional outcomes.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Oct 2017 - now Siemens Mobility AG, Germany Head of R&D Data Analytics Center

• Built up a new department for developing cloud based analytics and machine learning solutions for Siemens' Mobility Management business unit. Position definition, hiring, on-boarding of 14 new employees (incl. six PhDs) and multiple external consultants.

• Brought in and managed 10+ projects. Project definition, requirement elicitation, customer communication and day-to-day sprint planning and development tracking.

• Defined short and long-term roadmaps, performed strategic planning with middle management and reported to C-level management.

Jan 2016 - Dec 2017 Siemens Mobility AG, Germany Senior Key Expert & ADAS Architect

• Designed a brand new system architecture to allow fast prototype development of ADAS technologies across the entire Siemens Mobility division.

• Built up a new team and set up the development structure and environment; developed coding guideline, set up development tools and testing facilities, and introduced Agile methodologies to allow structured and rapid development. This has been demonstrated through several internal and public demonstrations, including at InnoTrans 2016 in Berlin.

• Leading the development of odometry, SLAM and sensor fusion algorithms within a 15 man development team.

• Significantly expanded the competitive standing of the company through 45+ Intellectual Property submission.

Aug 2014 - Dec 2015 MAN Truck & Bus AG, Germany Principal Perception Scientist

• Coordinated the development of Sensor Fusion, Perception and Localization algorithm across a multi-brand multi-location project.

• Successfully transferred key autonomous driving technologies from Volkswagen Group Research to MAN Truck & Bus and Scania.

• Developed & demonstrated vision-based intersection detection in collaboration with Continetal AG and BMW at UR:BAN 2009 in Düsseldorf.

Oct 2011 - Jul 2014 ACFR @ University of Sydney, Australia SIEF John Stocker Postdoctoral Fellow

• Supervised two PhD students for the development of Machine Learning algorithms for image-based species recognition in large repositories of seafloor imagery collected by Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) systems.

• Coordinator and lecturer of Digital Components subject for 1st year mechatronics students. Developed course slides and lab material, gave lectures, supervised three teachers, organized written and oral exams.

Dec 2009 - Feb 2010 ETH Zürich, Switzerland Visiting Research Scientist

• Collaborated with Prof. Cedric Pradalier and the ASL UAV team to developed a robust real-time vision-based topological SLAM algorithm for quad-rotor UAVs.

Feb 2006 - Feb 2008 CSIRO ICT Centre, Australia Research Engineer - Robotics and Sensor Networks

• Managed the deployment of a six month autonomous vehicle trial at a collaborating company's factory. As part of the trial, performed the necessary development, update and maintenance of our system.

• Supervision of multiple bachelor and master students. • Developed algorithms for path planning, localization and automatic camera exposure control

for robotic applications and back-end software modules for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN).

Jun 2003 - Jan 2004 Alfred Kärcher GmbH, Germany Internship

• Developed new algorithms to optimize the cleaning coverage ability of the RC3000, embedded software in C and Java code for their 3D simulator and stand-alone applications.

• Developed a SLAM algorithm for low-cost mobile robots. The result of my thesis work resulted in the registration of a patent with the European Patent Office.

EDUCATION

Mar 2008 - Aug 2011 University of Queensland, Australia Doctor of Philosophy

• Thesis: Developed a robust vision-based topological SLAM algorithm inspired by the honeybee vision system.

Feb 2004 - Jan 2007 Technical University of Denmark Master of Science Engineering

• Thesis: Developed path planning algorithms for ride-on movers to cover large areas with obstacles without using GNSS.

Aug 2000 - Feb 2004 Technical University of Denmark Bachelor of Engineering

• Thesis: Developed a cheap mapping and localization algorithm for indoor vacuum cleaners.
