welcomes Padmini Nagaraj, M.D, Psychiatrist Slidell - Intensive Outpatient Program Dr. Nagaraj completed medical school in 1979 Bangalore Medical College in Bangalore, India. She completed her residency in Psychiatry in November, 1985 at Louisiana Medical Center in New Orleans and is Board Certified in Psychiatry and Neurology as well as Forensic Psychiatry. She has been licensed in the State of Louisiana since April 1985. She currently maintains a clinical practice in Metairie, where she treats adults and adolescents. She has served since 1990 as an Assistant Professor at LSU Medical School supervising residents and medical students. For more than 25 years Dr. Nagaraj has worked extensively on both the Southshore and Northshore, serving as Medical Director for numerous psychiatric hospitals and outpatient mental health programs. Additionally, she is approved as an Expert Witness in St. Tammany, Terrebonne, St. Charles, Jefferson and Orleans parishes. As a staff psychiatrist with Magnolia Behavioral Healthcare, Dr. Nagaraj will see patients on a weekly basis and provide medication management. What is the purpose of IOP? IOP is designed to achieve short-term stabilization and resolution of immediate mental health problem areas. Eligible patients have acute mental health symptoms and may be at risk for hospitalization, or may be "stepping down" from a hospital stay. IOP is ideal for stabilizing those individuals with a history of frequent decompensation from a stable mental health baseline. What are the advantages of IOP?
