As a Director of Water, Energy & Environment Center at the
University of Jordan, Dr. Saidan is leading a multidisciplinary team of
experts in the fields of Water-Energy-Environment nexus.
International Waste Manager, Dr. Saidan, is certified by ISWA in 2016
with Membership number 16-T1018.
Associate Professor of environmental engineering, management &
technology, Motasem Saidan, carries out scientific research in the areas
of water and wastewater treatment, solid & hazardous waste
management, cleaner production and pollution prevention, chemical
process safety and hazard management, air pollution control and
dispersion modeling, and environmental impact assessment. Holds a
Ph.D. in chemical engineering, has received numerous grants and
contracts for research and national projects activities. Since 2007, he
became Assistant Professor at the Princess Sumaya University for
Technology, Amman, Jordan, where he established and led the Swiss-
Jordanian Environmental Management & Technology Master Program.
In 2000, he became an associate professor. Parallel to that, between
2006-2011, he was the Executibe Director of the Industrial Technology
Cluster at the Royal Scientific Society, Amman, Jordan.
Since Sept 2012 to Sept 2015, he was Assistant Professor at the
University of Jordan, Chemical Engineering Dept, and currently (Sept
2015) he is an Associate Professsor at the same Dept.
He has coordinated research projects funded by EU, UNIDO, USAID,
GIZ, and OXFAM through Ministry of Environment , Ministry of Energy,
and Ministry of Municipalities. His activities include refereeing of
research projects for several national and international bodies. Motasem
Saidan is an author and coauthor of over 30 publications in the fields of
environmental engineering in referred journals and conference
proceedings. He is a member in the editorial board of several respected
journals.
Dr. Saidan is a Chemical Engineer specializing in technical
management of industrial technologies consultation and projects, with
more than fifteen years of applied research and projects experiences in
academic, applied industries, and national projects.
Dr. Saidan is in the process to get certified as “ Industrial Safety
Manager’ from OSHA-Academy, Oregon, USA. He has passed 6 exams
out of 9, and within a couple of months from now (25 December 2014),
he will get through.

Dr. Saidan is an environmental manager with excellent knowledge of
cleaner production and pollution prevention; Air pollution & toxic release
modeling; Solid and Hazardous waste management; POPs; Health,
environment and safety (HSE); Hazard risk management; environment
and sustainable development, and environmental economics. He has
served as consultant to various local organizations and ministries on
product quality and safety, policy-making issues concerning energy and
environmental management and responsible industry practices.
Throughout 2012-to date, Dr. Saidan has been teaching several BSc
courses in the Chemical Engineering Dept, mainly in the fields of
environmental engineering and management (Environmental
engineering, solid waste management, air pollution, cleaner production
and pollution prevention, industrial waste and wastewater management).
He has supervised several undergraduate projects including more than
12 students who are currently leading their technical roles in Jordan and
abroad.
Moreover, Dr. Saidan is teaching several Master courses related to
three Master programs in the Faculty of Engineering & Technology.
Among these courses: Environmental Impacts of Energy, Environmental
Economics..etc. He is currently supervising 5 Master thesis projects
mainly in the fields of water management, waste-to-energy project,
pollution and waste minimization in the industry, sustainable energy
resources and potentials.
Dr. Saidan has participated in many national workshops and
conferences, and given several presentations and abstracts. He has
also published more than 15 papers, and recently he is among the
Editorial Board of international scientific journals, as well as, he has
reviewed tens of submitted papers to these journals.
Dr. Saidan is a Technical writer-editor with a broad range of sources of
pertinent information. He is skilled in reporting for project work packages
and deliverables; summaries of research programs; and consultancies
reports.
