Dr. Yusuf A. Matcheswalla, MD (Psychiatry), MD (Forensic),DPM, FIPS, PGDCR is Honorary Professor of Psychiatry, Grant
Medical College - J.J. Hospital. He is an Honorary Psychiatrist atJ.J Hospital, G. T. Hospital, Masina Hospital, Saifee Hospital,
Central Railway Hospital and Police Hospital. He was former
Honorary Deputy Coroner of Mumbai and has been instrumental
in the development of the Department of Psychiatry at Masina
Hospital.
He was President of the Bombay Psychiatric Society for the year
2006-2007 and is currently Chairman - Specialty section
(Forensic Psychiatry) of the Indian Psychiatric Society, as well
as Chairman of the Academy of Medical Specialties, IndanMedical Association, Mumbai.
He is chairman of Humanity Health Organisation, a grass roots
charitable trust, working among the under-privileged and
down-trodden sections of society in the field of health.
Dr. Matcheswalla specializes in the fields of Addiction, Sexualdisorders, Children and adolescents problems, problems of
old age and particularly in serious psychiatric problems like
Schizophrenia, bi-polar disorders, major depressive disordersand a whole host of other psychiatric problems major and
minor.
Masina Hospitals Department of Psychiatry started off as a
fledgling unit on a small scale. Set in a sylvan surrounding in the
heart of Mumbai, today it is one of the finest psychiatric units
in the country working in the private sector offering world class
psychiatric services and therapies.
The department has a holistic client-centred teamcomprisingof psychiatrist, psychiatric counsellor, clinical psychologist,
child and adolescent counsellor, family counsellor, marriage
counsellor, special educator, meditation faciltator, social
worker, trained nurses and ward staff.
The department has separate residential in-patient facilitiestoassist mentally ill men and Women. The department can also
cater to patients who need special attention.
