हंस VISION • Vol.III/2016 P4From The Ingenuinity

One junior commissioned officer and nine Jawansof the Army's 19 Madras battalion had been trappedafter an avalanche struck their post in Siachen earlywednesday morning. The post is at 19,600 feet onthe Actual Graved Position Line - the border withPakistan at Siachen glacier - inthe vicinity of Bana post.Siachen is the world's highestactive battlefield, contested byIndia and Pakistan since 1984.Indian Army currently occupiesthe full Siachen glacier, whilePakistani forces are deployed atthe lower heights of Saltororidge. A heroic rescue operation wasconducted since 3rd February, the day of avalanche, in which about 150 soldiers, two rescue dogs - Dot and Misha and some sophis-ticated radars took part. Out of those who were buried alive under severalfeet of snow, Lance Naik Hanamanthappa Koppad,a 33 year old soldier miraculously survived. But heremained in a critical condition at the Army Re-search and Referral hospital on Tuesday evening. He was placed on ventilator to protect his airwayand lungs in view of his comatose state. He re-mained buried under ice from 3rd to 8th Februaryand was found to be conscious but drowsy and dis-oriented.No one can imagine what it must have been like be-fore being rescued. "You are under a mountain ofice. You are alive, but nothing is in your hands tomake yourself live. You can feel, breathe, think butcan do nothing about it. Ice is filled in your mouthand eyes. Cold reaches to each of your body part,

your heart and even to your brain. Blood freezes inyour nerves. Time does not pass away quickly. Each moment feels like a decade. You want toshout out loud, you want to cry, but can't help it.When the time comes when they come to rescue

you, it’s already too lateand you lose every bit ofyour consciousness."The entire Betadur vil-lage prayed for Hana-manthappa. Her mothersaid that she had adream in which he stoodbeside her and told herthat he will return. Hiswife Jayashri, his chil-

dren Netravati and Basavva and a few others werearranged to travel by road to Goa and board a flightto New Delhi. He died in a Delhi hospital four days after he wasmiraculously rescued alive from Siachen. Thou-sands of people gathered in a small Karnataka vil-lage to bid farewell to Hanamanthappa koppad, whowas buried at the panchayat ground in his villageBetadur in Dharwad district after noon on 12th Feb-ruary, Friday. The cause of the avalanche is yet unknown. There is no doubt that Hanamanthappa was afighter. However, the avalanche also affected the lifeof other soldiers also. Media coverage over "mournsover his passing", political leaders to be seen withhis family members, patriotic songs were played onhis funeral day. There is a need to clean up the sys-tem which presently makes a mockery of announce-ments of financial help when the families of oursoldiers are in distress.

Mass protests, extensive media coverage and na-tionwide debates has brought the Rohit Vemulacase up for the nation to deliberate upon. Amongthe hot debates and controversies stems lots ofquestions. Who is Rohit Vemula? Why did he die?Is it merely the death of some student at a Univer-sity or it is much more than that? Most of us know Rohit Vemula as a 25-year-oldDalit boy pursuing his PhD in Life Sciences at theUniversity of Hyderabad. But it is just one dimen-sion of his life. His age, degree or cast-e is notsomething that defines him. It is his love for sci-ence, stars and nature, his ideology, his views andhis ambition of being a writer that actually showwho he is. A humble boy with a dream of stars – adream of being like Carl Sagan. But that dreamhas been lost unfulfilled. His protest against thehanging of Yakub Memon and his condemnationof the ABVP attack on the screening of the docu-mentary” He has met a tragic fate. Harassed, bro-ken and shattered by suspension from his hosteldue to false allegations of him being involved in analleged attack on an ABVP activist, Rohit hangedhimself to death in his friend’s room. This is theprice he had to pay for speaking his opinions, for

presenting histhoughts. Once againour democratic coun-try has failed to savea person who hadnot committed anycrime but had justused his freedom tosupport a cause. This

case has once again brought to limelight howCasteism still reigns masked by fake assurancesand non-functional laws. Rohit Vemula had a lib-erated soul entrapped in a Dalit boy. He describeshis birth as a ‘fatal accident’ and himself as an ‘un-appreciated child’. This shows how the under priv-ileged people are victims of cruelty, ignorance andbarbarism. He felt himself growing into a monster,as he writes in his suicide note. It is high time toquestion ourselves why we let casteism, fraudu-lence and ignorance to grow enormously till theybegin to suffocate us? Will we keep numb and oureyes shut till more innocent lives are sacrificed? This is enough. We need to speak up against thisdiscrimination and ignorance to save the life ofsuch harmless and brave souls.

FROM A LOVER OF STAR TO A STAR:

THE ROHIT VEMULA CASE

Here are the excerpts from the conversation:

NSS is the largest society of our college, with over600 volunteers. How has this year been for you asthe mentor of the team? The team is very proficient and the members aresensitive to the social causes. They know how to or-ganize initiatives and work together. They’re work-ing hard and I guide them.

You have been organizing some great events. Youhad the seminar on organ and blood donation, thepadhaku camp, how does it feel to see the teamperforming so well? There’s a lot more, like we have active work in the

other wings. We have Padhaku where we teachchildren, we also sensitize them towards their socialresponsibilities. We had the Diwali mela. Also, wehad invited a theatre group to put up a play on trans-gender sensitization. Our team had recently visiteda school for special children. So we aim to go be-yond the set norms to make a difference.

What according to you takes to be a member of theNSS team? Any message to those who aspire owork for the society? You have the most valuable thing is time. You needtime to develop a sense of commitment and empa-thy. The NSS team boasts of confident yet highlydisciplined students.

Every morning I wake upI wake up with a grin,

though the reason is little known.scrambled thoughts in and out curls,

what you gonna wear todayon your face,

I own a miscellaneaand a mind full of dilemmas.

well, it's the people around who'll de-cide...!

the face of rage or the face of mercythe face of courage or the face of effete.

But all beneath this, lies the face,

the second and the real.seeking to turn up if,

If it's you,you my beloved.

Life is a hub of chances and experiences; every for-mer comes with a latter. Every day we confront a bitof something, most of us follow the same sociallyacceptable template and fall victim to boredomwhile some mark their own footprints on thegrounds of discoveries. Revolting against these rou-tines and dreaming to escape won't help; all youneed is to alter your perspective. Life is way beyondthe motility of oxygen, it’s about that involuntarysmile that smothered your face when you seesomeone smiling without any reason, it’s about theshudders you feel on a chilled first flight and it’sabout that warmth you get from your beloved. Night and day you are busy with your ceaselesschats, avoiding it and seeing things for a minute cantake your life to an intangible shore. The momentyou start seeing beauty in small things, you areblown away like leaves on ground and trees in rain.In reality, there is nothing ordinary or extraordinary, there's beauty in everything. For instance, you cansee a heap of compost with a possibility of gardenof roses in it.If you're like me, inquisitive, then you must be think-ing, "okay that's nice, but how's that exactly goingto happen?"

I would say that it's all about realising your impalpa-ble side which again is a matter of accepting your-self and your life as it is. Acceptance is the motherof bliss and it comes when instead of expecting foryour future, you live your present at its best. Chang-ing a certain moment is fine, but only if you alreadyknow that resisting the reality is useless. Surrender-ing to that moment and accepting things and peoplethe way they are, will open your heart and will giveyou perpetual peace.People often praise you, saying "keep it up". That'sokay, but have you ever thought of keeping it down?Life is not about achieving something you crave for,it’s about getting that incessant pleasure in doingthings that you own at present. I'm not asking youto stop making all efforts and leave it all on fate, dowhatever you are doing but with some spaces of in-trospection in between as spaces are as importantas continuity in your life. It’s through space that youbreathe. It’s through space that your body moves. It’s through space that you hear. And it’s throughspaces between these letters that you are reading;else it would all be puzzling.Hope you got something...

I always prefer to believe the best of everybody, it saves so much trouble. Rudyard Kipling

Every human being is different from each other notonly in appearance but also in their mindset and per-ception about things. All of us form an opinion aboutevery other thing we see, feel or experience. In fact, every person is entitled to have their views, ideas and opinions. In a diverse country like ours itscommon to have difference in opinion about everyother thing. Everyone has the right to freedom of opin-ion and expression; this right includes freedom to holdopinions without interference and to seek, receive andimpart information and ideas through any media andregardless of frontiers. One fundamental concept be-hind freedom of expression is that everyone is to beable to study many different opinions about all the is-sues on which we make joint decisions. Freedom ofexpression is normally described as being importantfor democracy because it makes it possible to spreadinformation freely, thereby providing citizens and de-cision-makers with better opportunities to reach well-founded decisions. Freedom of expression can alsobe said to fill a more critical function since well in-formed citizens and free mass media are given ampleopportunities to review and express their opinionsabout how public power is exercised. Moreover, free-dom of expression can contribute to combating cor-ruption. Freedom of expression can also be motivatedfrom a democratic equality perspective. A political ad-ministration in which decisions are made in accor-dance with the majority principle only becomes alegitimate administration if all citizens have had an op-

portunity to express their opinion on a certain issue.Freedom of expression is also an individual privilegethat gives individuals the right to express their opin-ions and communicate with others. Starting fromsports to politics, books, movies each person’s ideol-ogy matters. In Indian household chai and debate onnational issues are common to see. These opengrounds for discussion actually enables all to know theperception of that particular section of the society.Free exchange of ideas brings out unique solutionsthat can be beneficial and is in for the larger interestof the nation. The youth of the nation should never beafraid to put forth their views as their mindset aboutthe national issues will govern the future policies ofthe country. I HAVE AN OPINION AND I HAVE THERIGHT TO EXPRESS IT. But that doesn’t mean weshould hurt the sentiments and virtues of others. Yes,as long as your statement of opinion is just an opinionand doesn’t contain specific assertions that can beproved untrue. For example, “I didn’t like Star restau-rant” is an opinion. ” whatever you do don’t go to therestaurant. I had a hamburger there that was taintedwith e.coli and had to be hospitalized for a week” ispotentially a defamatory statement if in fact the restau-rant can prove that you never spent any time in hos-pital. We have a right to expression but in a spree ofshowcasing ourselves we should not undermine anyother section of the society. Use this power for greatergood and prove to be an asset for the nation.

The mentor of the NSSteam, Dr. Baljeet Kaur, isdelighted with the perform-ance of her team andproud to be a part of thishighly motivated group. She talks about her experi-ences and how this yearNSS organised greatevents.

The best way to predict the future is to create it. - Peter Drucker

हंस VISION • Vol.III/2016 P5From The Ingenuinity

By: Mohit Khurana Physics (H.) III

In 1916, Einstein completed General Theory of Relativity and predictedthe existence of gravitational waves due to invariance of Lorentz trans-formation whose consequences is the existence of ripples in the curva-ture of space-time which propagate as waves, travels outward fromsource with a finite speed were called as Gravitational waves. Thesewaves transport energy as gravitational radiation. In General theory ofRelativity, the mass in space causes the bending of space-time curva-ture, higher the mass higher is the bending. As objects with mass movearound in space-time, the curvature changes to reflect the changed lo-cations of those object. An accelerating objects generate changes in thiscurvature, which propagate outwards at the speed of light in a wave-likemanner. This is origin of gravitational waves.Due to very small amplitude of these waves which are produced allaround, it is very difficult to detect them. To detect them, we need bigstars to produce distortions or gravitational waves. Before 1.3 Billionyears, 1.3 Billion light-years far away two black holes collided and cametogether merge to form a single black hole and produced gravitationalwaves of large amplitude, it travels outward to whole space, passesthrough stars, matter, stars, and eventually gets to Earth.A huge amountof energy was released and what we measured was very small, whichwas left.As a gravitational wave passes an observer, that observer will findspace-time distorted by the effects of strain. Distances between objectsincrease and decrease rhythmically as the wave passes, at a frequencycorresponding to that of the wave. This occurs despite such free objectsnever being subjected to an unbalanced force. Theses waves were de-tected by Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO).In fact, by the time gravitational waves reach LIGO's detectors, theamount of space-time movement they will generate is thousands of timessmaller than an atomic nucleus! Due to the astronomical distances tothese sources, the effects when measured on Earth are predicted to bevery small, having strains of less than 1 part in 1020. Earlier, Scientists demonstrated the existence of these waves with evermore sensitive detectors. The most sensitive detector accomplished thetask possessing a sensitivity measurement of about one part in 5×1022(as of 2012) provided by the LIGO and VIRGO observatories.Variousgravitational-wave observatories (detectors) werein operation, such as

Advanced LIGO which began observations in September 2015.Thegravitational waves were detected on September 14, 2015 at 09:51 UTCby both of the twin LIGO detectors, located in Livingston, Louisiana, andHanford, Washington, USA. On February 11, 2016, the LIGO ScientificCollaboration and Virgo Collaboration teams announced that they hadmade first observation of gravitational waves, originating from a pair of

merging black holes using the Advanced LIGO detectors. The discovery, accepted for publication in the journal Physical Review Letters, wasmade by the LIGO Scientific Collaboration and the Virgo Collaborationusing data from the two LIGO detectors.

At each observatory, the two-and-a-half-mile (4-km) long L-shaped LIGOinterferometer uses laser light split into two beams that travel back andforth down the arms (four-foot diameter tubes kept under a near-perfect

vacuum). The beams are used to monitor the distance between mirrorsprecisely positioned at the ends of the arms. Distance between the mir-rors will change by an infinitesimal amount when a gravitational wavepasses by the detector. A change in the lengths of the arms smaller thanone-ten-thousandth the diameter of a proton (10-19 m) can be detected.

Gravitational waves penetrate regions of space that electromagneticwaves cannot. Comparitively speaking, phenomenon of Gravitationalwaves is similar to Electromagnetic waves. As light carries informationabout its source, so does the gravitational waves, it opens a new field inAstronomy. It is hypothesized that they will be able to provide observerson Earth with information about black holes and other exotic objects inthe distant Universe. Such systems cannot be observed with more tra-ditional means such as optical telescopes or radio telescopes, and sogravitational-wave astronomy gives new insights into the working of theUniverse. In particular, gravitational waves could be of interest to cos-mologists as they offer a possible way of observing the very early Uni-verse. This is not possible with conventional astronomy, since beforerecombination the Universe was opaque to electromagnetic radiation tillthe 3,60,000 years after the big bang. By studying gravitational waves, scientists will be able to discern what happened at the initial singularity.New surprises are expected by Physicists when they will probe more into this field of Astronomy. What we were not able to see in past now wewill be able to see through Gravitational waves, a new Spectrum, newimages of Universe, new observations will be probed.Toward this end, the LIGO Laboratory is working closely with scientistsin India at the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics, the Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology, and the Institutefor Plasma to establish a third Advanced LIGO detector on the Indiansubcontinent. Awaiting approval by the government of India, it could beoperational early in the next decade. The additional detector will greatlyimprove the ability of the global detector network to localize gravitational-wave sources.

GRAVITATIONAL WAVES: A New Spectrum

JNU debate has pretty much consumed everyone by now. It has been thehot topic in every home for the past few weeks. From Sitaram Yechury andArvind Kejriwal to Anupam Kher everyone has openly expressed their opin-ion on this issue. Arnab Goswami went a step further and dedicated hisprime-time news program, The Newshour Debate, to calling JNU studentsanti-national. So what really happened in JNU that it is causing so much out-rage among the political parties and common people.A case of sedition was filed against unknown persons for allegedly shouting“anti-India” slogans inside the JNU campus during an event on Afzal Guru, the organisers of the event have distanced themselves from the controversy. The students who were part of the committee that organised an event tomark the death anniversary of Afzal Guru said that none of them were partof the group that was shouting slogans. JNU Students Union president Kan-haiya Kumar was arrested on sedition charges after allegations of ‘anti-na-tional’ sloganeering against him surfaced. He was ordered to three days ofpolice custody. Students of JNU gave a shutdown call, saying that they willnot allow classes to be held on the campus till students’ union presidentKanhaiya Kumar was released. JNU teachers too, joined the students inboycotting classes. On February 14, the Patiala House courts witnessed vi-olence as a mob, wearing lawyer’s robe, slapped and kicked supporters ofKanhaiya Kumar. Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi criticised the BJPgovernment, accusing it of “bullying” the prestigious institution. Few dayslater court in New Delhi ordered release of the JNUSU president from theTihar jail in the sedition case. Addressing a huge gathering of students onthe campus, soon after release from Tihar Jail, Mr. Kumar said: “It is notazadi from India, it is azadi in India [we want]... from the corrupt practicesthat are going on inside the country.” Kanhaiya Kumar made his fiery speechat the same place where he had addressed students just a day before hisarrest. This is a controversial topic. Everyone has different opinion on this issue, but was calling Afzal Guru a martyr right. If you had evidence that provedhis innocence regarding Parliament attack, but still that would not make hima martyr. Let us also keep in mind that this is the same judiciary that gave afair trial to Azmal Kasab who was caught on camera with a gun in his handkilling innocent civilians in Mumba. So it is highly unlikely that court will giveout a death sentence unless there is concrete proof for the same. An eventwas also organized to remember the “martyr” Afzal Guru, who had plannedthe attacked on India’s lower house. Isn’t this ironical? “You can raise slo-gans against anyone if you are angry with any government. But you don’thave the right to play with the unity of the country. No question arises of par-doning them,” said Anupam Kher. Also remember that the attack on Kan-haiya, while he was taken to court was also not at all excusable. The freedom of speech is a fundamental right of every citizen of this democ-racy. But using it for sedition or the propagation of violence would be right-fully opposed by any democracy in the world. In a country which desperatelytried to give its citizens a peaceful and safe life in the wake of a proxy warfrom Pakistan, internal tensions as well as new threats like ISIS recruitments, taking strict action against anyone who openly talks about breaking thecountry to pieces is the most rational way to go. We want the “Azaadi” that you want too- from casteism, poverty and dis-crimination. And in that fight, the people of the country will always be by yourside.

With decadence thrown to a whole new level since the term hadbeen coined, the ruffian Delhi commuters have proved that they

were, are and will continue to be a hooligan bunch regardless of theplace they are present or the people surrounding them. Many peopleexperience these embarrassing-cum-infuriating acts yet nobody, in-cluding me, tries to put them to an end.One commuter, while plying, pees at the entrance of a coach as hecouldn’t control the pressure any longer while another is flouting thecode of ethical conduct. One, who is, in particular, an ultra-affectionate, is publicly expressinghis constant adoration and enjoying a lip-lock with his nymphowhereas the other one while nestling has been caressing his callipy-gian gf for a couple of minutes (witnessed personally).

Yeh to sirf trailer hain, picture abhi baaki hain mere dost.Once, I was with my friend Hitesh Verma travelling in the yellow linemetro awaiting a vacant seat. Nearby, was a couple standing with acold drink bottle; both of them resembled literate personalities.Abruptly the guy began churning the bottle and, in defiance of know-ing the consequence of the preposterous act, lifted the cap, and de-filed the floor of the compartment. And this brought, along witheverybody, a giggle to the their faces, which annoyed a senior mansitting nearby, who too did nothing but kept quiet initially as thoughnothing had happened. I got it because of his evident expression, and when rather than sanitizing it,the couple tried to shun, he ulti-mately broke his silence and admonished them to clean the place.“Why and who are you?” came a curt reply from girl, and the reverentanswered, ”I am no one, kindly clean it”. We all know that you’ve ad-vertently done it, he added. “We aren’t gonna do that at all”, the boywho I termed as literate initially, expressed these words with com-plete illiteracy. The urger tolerably said again, “I am just asking youto please clean it, please” and again came a ‘no’ from the couple. This made the tranquil man say ‘please’ thrice. The man placidly said,“This isn’t a good conduct to exhibit or is it? You must act accordingto the place you are present in. Literate people don’t act like this ordo they?” However the couple was bent on despite these lines bythe ‘real’ educated and tactful man. Following that when 3-4 passen-gers came into the picture with their own arguments the couple hadto bend on their will. They yielded and cleaned it by a newspaper, yet look at the height of turpitude, the girl insisted on throwing thatnewspaper in the coach itself, she might’ve felt that they were be-sieged and besmirched. However, in my opinion that wasn’t abase-ment rather an adequate comeuppance for their misdemeanor.Wait, the unceasing metro of misdeeds hasn’t yet reached its termi-nus yet. A rustic commuter, sitting on the dense rubber floor over thejoint that concatenates two compartments, serves as an interior im-pediment to the commuters attempting to move between coachesand that eyed-hindrance has persistently been disregarding the dis-comfort caused to passengers. That’s again the height of turpitude, isn’t that? One seldom witnesses commuters lining-up and awaiting metros toply. And at the Kashmiri Gate & Rajiv Chowk Stations for the metrosdestined to either terminate at Huda City Centre or Jahangiri Puri, Ibet you guys that even the worst of words will be incompetent to de-scribe the sight and you will need to request the lexicographers tocome up with a neologism to describe the condition.

One, particularly a moralist may find these wicked acts infuriatingand not in accord to the ethics. Even I also wish to carry out acamisado and treat them in the same manner they had treated themetro while plying. Kindly do not create a mal-perception now thatwhile camisado I would kiss that guy as he also was locking his lips.In case a virtuous person shows courage and makes an essay to askthem to cease what shit they have been engaged in, the only thinghe gets in return is an offhand point-blank reply. “Hey, don’t poke yournose in my/our business”,”Excuse me, who the hell you are askingus to do as you say?”,”Mind your own business…Okay???”, amongvarious others. These acts that may be immensely unpleasant to our eyeballs, apolo-gies, definitely they are, yet we are inactively awaiting a re-incarna-tion of Gandhi Ji or Hygieia who’ll board the yellow line and teachthese people lessons of significance of ethical and decent conductand sanitation.Okay, let’s get back to the very first act of the disparagement, whena person caught his co-passenger on camera and handed over theaccusatory clip to DMRC, all that it did was ‘nothing’, and merely as-sure him of proper investigation of the act and the veracity of accu-sation. When the recorder asked him why he is peeing in metro, hereplied calmly “ bhaiya majboori thi, kya karta?”. What a reasonablereply. Co-passenger then gave the reprobate a few reproachful lines. And seriously, it is worth viewing how these passengers absquatulatethe metro as though they were merely commuting by conforming tothe moral and the ethical principles.

If you have a dream, don’t just sit there.Gather courage to believe that you can suc-ceed and leave no stone unturned to make ita reality. It is a matter of immense pride thatsix students of Hansraj College successfullycleared their IPCC in the November exam heldlast year. Himanshu Nagpal, Chetan Goyal,Yashwardhan, Kartik Bansal (right to left inphoto) defied all difficulties and achieved whatis, the beginning of many great things to come. "Something easy to achieve isn’t worth achiev-ing. Any journey one may take, challenges aredeemed to appear", says Kartik Bansal whenasked about his journey. The compassion forfinance is what motivated our young achieversto enter this profession. Sheer hard work andconsistency is what makes you succeed in thiscourse. A perfect balance is required betweencoaching, college and self-study time is mostimportant while planning and executing yourjourney. When asked about the time devotedto coaching and class, Abhishek Bharti crisplysums up, "I devoted equal time on both, say inthe proportion of 3:2". They all admit that therecame a time when they felt disheartened and

directionless. But a strong mind and will powerof oneself is what helps to sail your boatthrough the storm. While one can pursue CA as soon as theycompleted their school, they chose to go tocollege. College offers an invaluable exposurewhich academics alone cannot offer you. CA

brims with academic excellence and collegehelps to grow holistically. Like Himanshu Nag-pal says, "CA teaches you what college can't,and college teaches you what CA can't". Allour achievers are active members of many so-cieties. One tip that Chetan Goyal gives to all thosepreparing for IPCC is ," to believe in yourselfand be always motivated". All of them areplanning to complete their college and thenthey'll look out for articleship. Kartik Bansaladequately sums up, "you need to love thiscourse and should be proud to pursue it". Wewish them luck for their future endeavors. Maythey continue to make us proud and theirspark to achieve big is forever ignited. \

Aditai Puri

In conversation with the formerpresident of The EconomicsSociety of Hans Raj Collegeand the co-ordinator of the col-lege placement cell,Aditai Purishares with us his version ofthe big fat placement theoryand what it takes to glideacross interviews and ace thespot! Presently he is successfullyplaced at Mckinsey and Com-pany as a Business Analyst.Being a final year student hehad planned to set all his eggsin one basket by skippingpreparations for managementand B-school entrance exami-nations and sit for off and oncampus placements althoughhe got ISB. He agrees that hehad been nervous initially sincehe had almost no back-up planas is the case for most of uswho are novices when it comesto big names coming to ourcampuses for recruitment. Hesat for one on campus inter-view with Bain (2) followed bythree off campus interviewswith McKinsey and Co.(4) , ATKearney (4) and BCG(2). Alsohe adds the number of inter-views along with the type anddegree of criticality might varyperson to person and from onecompany to another like McK-insey has a CV shortlist roundfollowed by a problem solvingtest (PST) which is non elimi-native but yet evaluative.Finallycomes the round of personalinterviews with associate part-ners, directors and partners. As for charting out how to de-

liver the best, Aditai alwaysurged his friends to take mockinterviews and asked them fortheir honest criticisms thathelped him to better hischances. Summing up on the company’sside as to what they look for ini-tially, he says mainly they needpeople with strong leadershipskills, good work experience interms of internships and con-sistent academic performance.Later, they go on to evaluate onwhether one is fit for the rolethe company is offering andtheir work culture. Aditai goeson to suggest that one shouldknow his resume very well andthat he or she should be com-pletely honest in their answers. One should keep his calm andgive his best shot!

All the Best!
