EXECUTIVE PROFILE
Served in the Department of Archaeology & Museums from 1990 till 2006 as Curator, Director, Assistant
Director, Assistant Curator (National Museum of Pakistan), Sub Editor, and Editor in the Tribune Daily,
Travelogue Monthly Magazine.
From 2006 till to date working as Director, State Bank of Pakistan Museum & Art Gallery Department, under
which established the first monetary museum of Pakistan. Recent projects are consultancy for Sindh Police
Museum, Oxford University Press Museum, Mukhi House Museum (historic house being converted into
museum of recent past), Sukkur Archaeological Museum, N.A.Baluch personality Museum, wildlife museum,
Museum of Recent Past and several others.
Carried out several excavations in Baluchistan and Sindh, and Indus delta area, discovered an underwater city
in Indus delta, as Co Director and Director, Head of the Pakistani Mission, with the foreign missions of France,
Italy & Germany.
Working as Director, Joint Archaeological Mission, Pakistan, Italian & French since 2011-till to date.
Collaborative work done for many documentaries with international channels such as BBC, ZDF, CNN,
Discovery, HBO, my work on Persian Mummy was documented by BBC, Horizon,” Mystery of the Persian
Mummy”, & about Indus valley civilization for BBC education channel-4.
Founding member Centre for Archaeological & Environmental Research under NGO Sindh Exploration &
Adventure Society.
Established a foundation “Terracotta, a project under Zohra Ibrahim foundation”, For the revival of dying arts
and crafts with personal funding.

Re-opened the Quran gallery, at National Museum.
Established a new gallery in the adjacent area of Quran gallery for the temporary
exhibitions.
Rearranged many galleries display to attract more visitors and arranged temporary

Planned and executing the development of the Sindh Police Museum, planned the theme
of the Museum, exhibit design, planning and development of the Galleries, graphic design,

till to date Established First Monetary Museum of Pakistan, conservation of historical building
of the Museum, Theme, designed exhibition of display, wrote descriptive panels,
Acquisition of material for the Museum, developed manpower by training young
interns, established the dept. of Museum & Art Gallery along with the rules and
SOP’s. project schedules, fabrication and detailing and drawings, graphic design,
furniture detailing and artifacts installation, presentations and meetings with private
collectors as well as professionals for the project of Museum, selected contractors for
the Museum renovation/conservation, furniture, virtual tour, computer kiosks
(interactive educational), prepare yearly Budgets, Business Plans, strategic plan 2010-
15.
Devised special plan for the Manpower developed, under which trained 10 young
interns in different fields of Museum for the first time in the history of Pakistan such
as graphics, software development, Currency, stamps coinage and Art studies,
conservation of paintings and coinage.

Devise special educational and recreational plans for the physically challenged
children and visitors.
Special educational activities are of prime importance for this Museum.
Virtual Tour of the Museum, text written, and research.
Research and writing for the material of the educational computer kiosks, the whole
collection of the Museum is being digitized and stored in the kiosks for the reference
of the visitors and specially students, with the photographs at 360 angles, and
complete data, of the objects of the museum.
Yearly summer camps are arranged for children which are getting very popular and
hundreds of children are participating, the children are trained the dying arts such as
calligraphy, papier-mâché, painting different recycled material.

don’t go waste as well the interest and sense of belonging was developed for the
heritage in the students.
Counseling different schools for their curriculum as well as educational videos to
BBC and other televisions.
Opened up and photographed the Victoria Museum Collection after 53 years
lying in the wooden boxes, photographed the whole collection and now preparing
a catalogue of the same.

Contributed to a catalogue titled ‘Indo-Greek Coins Collection in the Taxila
Museum, Pakistan’ that was initially compiled by Dr. Walton Dobbins, an
American Numismatist; also did the editing of the original manuscript, expanding
the work with addition of certain details (viz. size, depth, find-spot etc.).
Compiled a catalogue on ‘Indo-Greek Coins in the National Museum of
Pakistan, Karachi’ and carried out a scientific analysis of coins which is a unique
effort in Pakistan.
Rearranged the Numismatic Section, classified and catalogued the coins in the
collection of the museum.

EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD OF ARCHAEOLOGY — A DESCRIPTIVE ACCOUNT
As Assistant Director, Exploration & Excavation Branch, Karachi
Planned numerous excavation and exploration tours of which, the explorations
in Kanrach and Saruna valleys in Baluchistan province of Pakistan deserve a
mention.
As Departmental Representative in 1998, coordinated with the French
Archaeological Mission and conducted excavation at ShahiTump, a site in
Turbat, Baluchistan.
As Departmental Representative in 1990, coordinated with the French
Archaeological Mission and conducted excavation at RattoKot, a site at the
Indus Delta.
Conducted exploration of arid area and coastal belt of Sindh and Baluchistan
in order to find sites of stone-carved graves. To date, some 200 sites and
graveyards that were previously unexplored, have been studied.
Planned and presented numerous projects for extensive excavations of sites such
as Mansurah (Sindh), LakianjoDaro (Sindh) etc.
Co-Director, German Pakistan Archeological Mission to Baluchistan
(Kalat), under which excavating at the site of Nal, Baluchistan (2001-2003).
Worked on the Confiscated Mummy by Police Authorities, and after thorough
study proved
As Project Director, Archaeological Survey of Sindh, carried out the
documentation of archaeological and historical heritage of Sindh, a publication,
digitalizing the data as well as maps etc. were prepared, and also for website of
Archaeological sites of Sindh province.
As Incharge Exploration & Excavation Branch, computerized all the data
available in the branch about different sites of Pakistan, such as topographic
sheets, drawings etc. and Cataloguing of the antiquities.

SOME EXTRA ORDINARY CONTRIBUTIONS IN THE FIELD OF HERITAGE OF
PAKISTAN
Discovered an underwater city, in Indus delta, which was not recorded in the
historical records, could prove to be a clue to solve the mystery of
Banbhore/Debal.
Exposed the International gang of forgers who were involved in unethical trade
of making fake mummies and selling them. Establishing Archives and Record Management of State Bank of Pakistan.,
created a division of Archives under the Museum & Art Gallery Department.

CONSERVATION & PRESERVATION OF HERITAGE& PAINTINGS
Conservation of a graveyard ‘Rumi’ under the conservation support program from
SUMITOMO FOUNDATION and developed this site as a tourist resort and
attraction place with the funding of the SEAS Pakistan
Conservation of the heritage building of Imperial Bank of India, built in 1920, for
re adaption as a Museum.
Conservation of Mural painting by a famous artist of Pakistan, Zahoorul Ikhlaq,
trained young conservationist with the help of skype, with the collaboration with
Indian institute for conservation of Painting (size 22x10 ft), the painting was
donated by a philanthropist in a very bad condition.
Advisor for the conservation and installation of a mural in the Indus valley school
of Art & Architecture (size 48x8 ft).

A Documentary made by BBC Channel 4 and Discovery Channel entitled” the
Mystery of Persian Mummy”, about the work done on the confiscated by the Pakistan
Police, broadcasted on 20th September 2001.

Documentary made by ZDF South Asian Channel, in appreciation of work done by
me in the field of archaeology with special reference to the work and investigation
with regard to the confiscated Mummy in 2000.
A movie is prepared by a company of Germany ‘Blue eyes’ about the investigation
work done by me on the confiscated Mummy, 2001.
A movie is under preparation by the HBO Channel, United States of America, New
York, about the forensic aspects of the investigation of the confiscated Mummy in
Pakistan, on their documentary channel under the series of ‘autopsy’.
A documentary about the Indus civilization, BBC Educational Channel 2,
participated in this as an Archaeologist/Subject expert, also worked as Adviser for the
script.
VOLUNTEER WORKING

CENTER
Under the Umbrella of SEAS Pakistan, Archaeological and Environmental
Research was established, which is working for the preservation of Heritage. In this
regard have helped establish small scale societies which act as sister organizations of
this Society, such as Sukkur Historical Society, Thatta Historical Society and soon
will be established Dadu Historical Society. The basic goal of this society is to bring
awareness of endangered heritage and involve local people to this cause.
Bring out a bi-annual Research Journal since 1992, which is subscribed by local and
foreign Libraries and Institutions.
The Laboratory for the Analysis of cultural Material and scientific research under
the Center is one of its own kinds. This Laboratory is catering the need of the scholars
and the students of Archaeology and environmental studies.

FOUNDER & PRESIDENT OF ZOHRA IBRAHIM FOUNDTION- 2013 – (in
the name of my mother and father) the object of the foundation is to give small scale
loans to the artisans for the revival of dying arts and crafts of Pakistan, the funds will
be utilized for the poor and needy people, education, and other projects worth funding.
Under this project with my personal budget only a shop in the posh locality has
already purchased and an office has been established to carry out work, two projects
under the umbrella have already initiated, with specifically from my own personal
funds.
