TAP Consortium
The project's main goal is to improve assessment practices in foundational first year education using technology options. The more specific objectives include:
1. Conduct study for current practice in freshman education across HEIs and making it the core for developing strategic change at this important foundational stage in university education.
2. Redesign and implement 10 large enrolment modules in the professional degree programs across disciplines.
3. Draft and institutionalize formative assessment policies for large enrolment group.
4. Use established technologies to facilitate timely feedback loops.
5. Draft national frame matrix for assessment practices which includes nature and type of assessment for large hall freshman classes.

Project Goal & Objectives
The project is expected to yield 7 major outcomes:
1. 10 higher education modules from professional degree programs redesigned
across a range of professional degree programs.
2. 20 well-trained teachers and practitioners who could lead the innovative formative assessment practices in large enrolment classes after project
period.
3. Integrating technology based assessment to increase staff efficiency.
4. New assessment policies for large enrollment classes. Ongoing
5. National framework for large enrollment freshman education. Ongoing
6. 2 publications in ISI indexed journals on current assessment practices and the
feasibility of reengineering those practices in the Palestinian context.
7. Project website which will be utilized to transfer these practices to other
disciplines and institutions.

Equipment Procurement– Equipment for two large hall education rooms was
procured and installed in each national HEIs.
– These equipment will provide the necessary infrastructure

Module Design
– 10 courses were selected, 2 from each national
university. The course designers were also
selected and oriented to the aims and objectives
of the assessment transformation in first year
education.
– Quality design checklist was devised and shared
with the coordinators and designers.

experts from partner universities to ensure quality

class assessment activities. They also included
regular feedback for teacher on quality of
lecturing, class procedure and class activities.

Monitoring Meetings– The coordinators within each national HEI organized 2
monitoring meetings to follow up on and address
challenges of the implementation process.

Implementation Evaluation– UA led the evaluation process which is meant to measure
quality of performance and satisfaction levels for all
project stakeholders (students, teachers, AQAC and
university administrators). The formative evaluation
component targeted the whole project activities. UA
determined the methodology and designed the tools.
– UA submitted an evaluation report with recommendations
for improvement in the next implementation phases.
