Song of Assembly1

I’m Singing Tomlin/Cash/JobeOnly one name lasts forever, only one fame stands aloneOnly one key has an anthem, that goes on and on and on

And I'm singing to the God who brings redemption to the nationsKings and oceans bow to Him in praise

And I'm singing to the God who wrote the book on our salvationTo the One who covers me in grace I'm singing

Only one word in the beginning, only one truth will prevailOnly one love brings you freedom, only one Man took the nails

Praise, praise to the Savior. Praise, to the Lamb Of GodPraise, in all of His splendor. Praise, for saving my life

I'm singing, I'm singing, I'm singing, I'm singing

Welcome and Preparation for WorshipThe love for equals is a human thing—of friend for friend, brother for brother. It is to love what is loving and lovely. Theworld smiles.

The love for the less fortunate is a beautiful thing—the love for those who suffer, for those who are poor, the sick, thefailures, the unlovely. This is compassion, and it touches the heart of the world.

The love for the more fortunate is a rare thing—to love those who succeed where we fail, to rejoice without envy with thosewho rejoice, the love of the poor for the rich.... The world is always bewildered by its saints.

And then there is the love for the enemy—love for the one who does not love you but mocks, threatens, and inflicts pain. The tortured’s love for the torturer. This is God’s love. It conquers the world. – Frederick Buechner

God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. – The Apostle Paul

God Opens His Gates and Calls His People InResponsive Call to Worship2 Psalm 95:1-2; 6-7Pastor: Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!

People: Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!

Pastor: Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!

All: For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

Prayer of Adoration & Praise

Hymn of Praise

Praise to the Lord the Almighty NeanderPraise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!

O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation! All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near,

Join me in glad adoration.

Praise to the Lord, Who o'er all things so wondrously reigneth,Shelters thee under His wings, yea, so gently sustaineth!

Hast thou not seen how thy desires e'er have beenGranted in what He ordaineth?

Praise to the Lord, O let all that is in me adore Him!All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before Him!

Let the amen sound from His people again;Gladly fore'er we adore Him.

Holy ScripturesLuke 1:54-55 ~ He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham, andto his offspring forever.

John 8:56 ~ Your father Abraham rejoiced that he would see my day. He saw it and was glad.

Solemn Vows (PCA Book of Church Order §57-5)Do you acknowledge yourself to be a sinner in the sight of God, justly deserving His displeasure, and without hope exceptthrough His sovereign mercy?

Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and Savior of sinners, and do you receive and rest upon Him alonefor salvation as He is offered in the Gospel?2 We believe that God always initiates with sinners, so we begin worship with his invitation and command to us to gather in His name.

Do you now resolve and promise, in humble reliance upon the grace of the Holy Spirit, that you will endeavor to live as becomesfollowers of Christ?

Do you promise to support the Church in its worship and work to the best of your abilities?

Do you submit yourself to the government and discipline of the Church, and promise to study its purity and peace?

Prayer for Jonah Elder George Godwin

Doxology Old 100th

Praise God from whom all blessings flow,Praise Him, all creatures here below;Praise Him above ye heavenly host,

Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

God Forgives His People Their SinsWe Confess our SinsAlmighty and Merciful God, you are pure and holy, kind and gracious, just and true. You have made us your people, but we have sinned against you and have provoked your anger. Nevertheless you have promised to forgive andcleanse us if we repent, and so we come to you. Lord, forgive us! Lord, deliver us! Open our eyes to see the darknessand danger of our sin. Soften our hearts and make us humble and contrite. Keep us from presumption and despair, and draw us to your Son, who has redeemed us through the shedding of His blood. By your Holy Spirit, O Lord, continue your saving work in us until we stand spotless before you when Christ appears for the salvation of all hispeople. ...Silent and Personalized Confession of Sin... Amen!

Lift Up Your Heads and Hear the Good News! Hebrews 4:14-16Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast ourconfession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respecthas been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we mayreceive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Worship with Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs

You Are the Lord SmithWorthy we stand saved by His hand. Great is Your name in all the earth.

Worthy alone Christ on the throne, Your kingdom will reign forever. You are the Lord Most High!

Great God Who Saves StoryOh, the promises of God, the rock on which I stand,

The truths to which I cling. His love that knows no bounds; He showers us with grace,

Withholding no good thing.

When I stumble and my faith is small,I will call Your name, great God who saves.

And I would have despaired if I had not believedThat You would come to me, great God who saves.

And in my darkest hour, Your mercy and Your powerAre reaching out to me, great God who saves.

Oh, the mystery of God, who holds all space and time,Yet knows my every need.

The vastness of Your power, the strength You give the weak;I soar on eagle's wings.

And in my pain and in my need,You heard me calling out Your name. When I was blind and could not see,

You stepped in and saved a wretch like me,And saved a wretch like me.

Great God who saves.

At the Cross Morgan/ZschechOh Lord You've searched me, You know my ways

Even when I fail You, I know You love me

Your holy presence, surrounding meIn every season, I know You love me

I know You love me

At the cross I bow my knee, where Your blood was shed for meThere's no greater love than this, You have overcome the grave

Glory fills the highest place, what can separate me now?

You go before me, You shield my wayYour hand upholds me, I know You love me

You tore the veil, You made a wayWhen You said that it is done

And when the earth fades, falls from my eyesYou stand before me, I know You love me

I know You love me

Matthew 22:34-40

God Invites His People to His TableThe Sacrament of the Lord’s SupperCommunion, also called The Lord’s Supper or Eucharist, is the family meal of Christians. We invite all committedfollowers of Jesus Christ to share in this sacrament: those who are baptized members of a congregation that proclaims thegospel, who are at peace with God and their neighbor, and who seek strength to live in a deeper communion with Jesus. If you are not a Christian, or you are not prepared to share in this meal, we encourage you to spend this time in prayer. We hope that this time is helpful to you as you consider your relationship with Jesus Christ and with his people, the Church.

Behold the Lamb Getty/TownendBehold the Lamb who bears our sins away, slain for us: and we rememberThe promise made that all who come in faith find forgiveness at the cross.

So we share in this Bread of Life, and we drink of His sacrifice,As a sign of our bonds of peace around the table of the King.

The body of our Savior, Jesus Christ, torn for you: eat and rememberThe wounds that heal, the death that brings us life, paid the price to make us one.

So we share in this Bread of Life, and we drink of His sacrifice,As a sign of our bonds of love around the table of the King.

The blood that cleanses every stain of sin, shed for you: drink and rememberHe drained death's cup that all may enter in to receive the life of God.

So we share in this Bread of Life, and we drink of His sacrifice,As a sign of our bonds of grace around the table of the King.

And so with thankfulness and faith we rise to respond: and to remember. Our call to follow in the steps of Christ as His body here on earth. As we share in His suffering, we proclaim: Christ will come again! And we'll join in the feast of heaven around the table of the King.

3 4, 5, & 6 year-old children may be dismissed before the sermon to Godly Play in room 173.

God Sends His People Out with Great BlessingBenediction4 Jude 24,25Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory withgreat joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, beforeall time and now and forever. Amen.

I Am the Lord Your God UnknownI am the Lord your God, (I... Am)

The Holy One of Israel, your Savior.I am the Lord, (Do not fear.)I am the Lord, (Do not fear.)I am the Lord, (Do not fear.)

I am the Lord.

4 Just as God called us into His presence at the beginning, so now He commands His blessing upon us as we depart. We look up and extend our handsin a posture of thanksgiving as we receive this great gift. Our final response to God’s assurance of His peace and presence upon those who are in Christis a chorus of joyful song.

“A Long Obedience in the Same Direction”A study of Eugene Peterson’s book looking at the Psalms of Ascent (Psalms 120-134). These are the particular songs thatthe Hebrew pilgrims would sing on their way up to worship in Jerusalem, and they have much to teach us about worship, service, joy, work, happiness, humility, community and blessing. Room 158A, (right off the sanctuary).

“The Righteous Shall Live By Faith”A study of R. C. Sproul’s book looking at the book of Romans. The book of Romans has been called “Paul’s fullest, grandest, most comprehensive statement of the gospel,” and it’s just as vital for the church today as on the day it waswritten. Room 167A, (down the hall from the church office).

Sedona Class for Young AdultsThe Sedona Group meets on Sunday evenings at the Godwins' home at 6:00pm.
