A swath of land along the LA River known as G2 (formerly The Taylor Yards) was officially acquired by the City of Los Angeles in March 2017 for close to $60M. At 41 acres, it is a key element in the ambitious plan to restore 11 miles of the Los Angeles River between Griffith Park and Downtown. G2 will eventually connect Rio de Los Angeles State Park with the Bowtie parcel, which is state-owned. The City will soon begin planning to turn the site into a space that can be used by the public.
