Down’s Syndrome
By: Amber Phillips, Brianna Utter, Sypriss Quigley
Medical history • Initial reason to visit the doctor: general physical and pain in abdomen.• Age 16• Height 5’8• Weight 180 lbs• Resting Pulse Rate 80bpm• Physical Symptoms: (eyes) upward Slant and Brush field spots.
(Ears/Nose/Mouth) difficulty hearing/ ringing in ears also small ears. (cardiovascular) short breath with exertion, chest pains and palpitations. (pain and aches) cramps in abdomen. (gastrointestinal) heart burn/reflux and pain in abdomen. (musculoskeletal) muscle/joint pain and hipaislocation.
• Outward Appearance: Excessive skin at nape of neck, single crease in palm of hand, flattened nose, and small mouth.
• Social Symptoms: speech difficulty.
Symptoms• Excess skin at the nape of the neck• Flattened nose• Separated joints between the bones of
the skull• Single crease in the palm of the hand • Small ears • Small mouth • Upward slanted eyes • Wide, short hands • Brushfeild spots • Impulsive behavior• Poor judgment • The cause of the illness is an extra 21st
chromosome.

Genetic Screening
• We called for this test to see if Donny Howard had an extra 21st chromosome. If the results came back as positive this told us that Donny Howard dose have down’s syndrome. The results came back as positive.
Final Diagnosis
• We are now positive that Donny Howard has Down’s syndrome. As you know we called for a genetic screening that told us that Donny Howard does have Down’s Syndrome.
Body Systems Affected • Many body systems are affected such as….• Circulatory system: many heart defects• Nervous system: low IQ • Skeletal System: shorter then average size• Respiratory: Shortness In breath• And many more……………
Treatment Plan
• There is no specific treatment for Donny Howard.
• You could consider the following• Regular checkups and screening• Medication• Surgery• Counseling and support
