An empty wall under a viaduct in downtown Elmira was recently transformed into a literacy-themed mural by staff members from the GST BOCES Literacy Zone program and student volunteers.

Look for its empowering message by Emilie Buchwald: “Children become readers on the laps of their parents.” Now the Elmira community is visually reminded of the importance of reading with children and a vacant downtown wall is a pleasure to see.
