Navatathri $ignifies the triumph of good, of piety and devotion over all evil forces.

Festivals in lndia epitornise the religious, cultural and socialaspirations of the people. Most Hindu festivals are a soul-purifying experience for the believer. Navrathri Festival

coincides with the end of the rainy season.

The festival is dedicated to the Mother Goddess. Kno,wn byother names such as Durga, Devi, she occupies a specialplace in the Hindu pantheon. She represents Shakti, thecosrnic energy that animates all beings, and is alsoconsidered to be Prakriti (nature), the counterpart of Purusha.

Together, they are responsibleforthe creation of theworld.

This nine-day festival is celebrated in a unique manner. A different form of the MotherGoddess is wonshipped on each different day during the nine-day festival. On the firstthree days, the Goddess Durga (Goddess of Valour) isvenerated. The nextthree days arespent in the worship otthe Goddess Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth). and the last three daysare a celebration of the Goddess Saraswati (Goddess of Learning and Arts). Together, thethree goddesses are worshipped asthefeminine equivalentof thre Hindu HolyTrinity.

The ninth day is the day of the Ayudha Pooja. After the slaying of Mahishasura and otherdemons by Charnundeswari, there was no more use for her weapons. So the weaponswere kept aside anrd worshipped. This Ayudha puja is being celebrated since ancienttirnes. The importance of Ayudha Pooja on this occasion may also be due to the fact thaton the Vijayadasami day, Arjuna took back his weapons which l're had hidden in a Vani treein order to lead a life in disguise for the prornised period of exile. lt is believed that one whobegins or renovates his learning to work on the Vijayadasami day will secure a grandsuccess as Al,juna did in Kurukshetra war.

Children are initiated into the first stage of learning on the auspicious Saraswati pooja

conducted on the ninth day.

The tenth day is Vijaya Dashami, or the festival of victory, symbolising the moment whenTruth dawns within"

A $ahasraKalashabishekam was performed on 19,2.2007 to commomerate the firstyear of thetennple.

It is proposed to celebrate the Sharan Navaratrothsavam (05.10.2018 to13.10.2013) with piety, devotion and intense religious fervour, During thenine days of worship, the Goddess would be adorned with a Gold Kavachamand would have specialAlankarams on each day.

Devotees are requested to have darshan of Devi Kamakshi during thenine days and be beneficiaries of Her blessings. The temple trust solicitsgenerous contributions from the devotees for performing the Navarathrifestival. May the presiding deity, the Mahaperiyaval of Kanchi and theSupreme Mother shed their grace on all of us.

A Wooden Chariot for ilevi Kamakshi was done by Shilpi Lakshminarayana Acharya ofKoteshwar, Karnataka. The Ratham was offered to the Goddess by His Holiness PujyasriJayendra Saraswati Swamigal of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam on I4th April2007.

Tlre gald plating work was done by Achari Senthil Kumar of Kunnbakonam. The GoldChariot was dedicated to Goddess Kamakshi at a glittering function on 29th $eptember2}fi7. Flis Holiness Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswimigal 0f Sringeri Sharada Peetamblessed the effort and made the Samarpanam.

The l.ltsava Murti would be placed on the Ratham and wor,shipped on each of the nineday festival. The Nagarvalam of Utsava Kamakshi would be done on the Vijayadasamiday at 6.30 p.m.
