What does wealth and freedom mean to you? Before

you answer that question, ask yourself, why did you

click on that headline? What did you want to take

away from the experience of reading a blog on the

meaning of wealth and freedom? Why do we want

you to answer these questions for yourself? Because

if you know that answer, you are that much closer to

exactly what you want. When you know what wealth

and freedom means to you, looks like to you, maybe even smells like to you, then you

are that much closer to attaining it. Let’s break it down.

What is wealth?

If you ask the United States Statistics Department, they aren’t likely to give you the

same answer of the majority of people. Most people when asked “what is wealth?” -

“income” is a key component of their response. The truth is income has very little to do

with wealth. The United States Statistics Department calculates the wealth distribution

of the U.S.A. according to income, assets, debts and liabilities. Those statistics more

closely parallel wealth than income alone, but does that truly reflect complete wealth?

Many people mistake wealth with being attached to income or, riches. The connotation

being that having riches is what makes you wealthy. But some in that position might

say they aren’t happy and don’t consider themselves wealthy at all. If you are in the

financial position to have a six figure annual salary or income, and have considerable

assets and a generally easy life, you are already high enough in the upper tiers of the

income brackets to be considered by most of the country, and certainly the world, as a

wealthy person.

But if you were in that position, you’d be very busy enjoying THAT life instead of

spending your time on a wealth and freedom blog.

If you started reading this blog knowing you wanted wealth, but weren’t quite sure what

that meant to you, that’s a goal you can aspire to in order to begin setting yourself apart

from those that don’t desire to be wealthy. Believe it or not, though almost everybody

may want to win the lottery or make an easy or passive one million dollars, only a small

percentage of the population wants it badly enough to actually go after it. Is that you?

Desiring it is the first step, but you have to be concrete about what you desire.

Is it wealth that you want? If so, that’s a great first step to freedom.

So let’s move on to freedom. What is freedom? What is it to you?

That last question is kind of a tough one, so we will just put a pin in that one for now.

So, what is freedom?

Without going into an epic Martin Luther King monologue, suffice it to say, freedom is

simply being released from the control of others in order to create an alternative

experience that is perceived as better.

When you compare that notion to the notion of wealth, you can see how and why

freedom and wealth get along so splendidly. Wealth for many, millions of people

actually, means the freedom from the control of others, through the creation of an

alternative experience. In other words, if your current income stream is under direct

control of someone else, even if you are making seven figures, you are only

experiencing one of those things. Wealth, check. Freedom? Oh, still working on that

one?

Spend sixty minutes with a CEO that handles million dollar decisions every single day

and you will realize very quickly into those sixty minutes that this person is anything but

free. They are responsible for and accountable to a higher power that controls almost

every aspect of their quality of life. Is THAT the kind of freedom you seek?

So, when it comes to getting both wealth and freedom, yes, you have to first have that

fire in your belly to want to go out and get it. Then you need to realize that true freedom

only comes when you create alternative experiences for yourself that include

relinquishing control from outside sources.

Many people can’t do all of this at the same time, which is why many people aren’t

wealthy AND also free. But just knowing you want both wealth and freedom

TOGETHER is the most important first step. Pairing that desire, WITH the fire in your

belly that means you won’t stop until you get it, is the next most important step to

establishing your wealth and freedom.

The truth is, it can be done. And it’s not as difficult as it sounds.

Remember, freedom is being released from the control of that which is preventing you

from doing what you want to do, and being who you want to be. You just have to know

what it is you want, and what is that is controlling you or preventing you from getting

that, and then you will know exactly what freedom is to you. When you know that, can

you see how much easier it is to go out and get it?

Now it’s probably not so difficult for you to answer the question, what is wealth and

freedom to you? Note that we did not talk much about external forces that create

wealth and freedom. Note that what we want you to do is realize that it’s all in your

control, you have all the power here. You are the one that gets to decide exactly what

you want your life to look like. Once you know that, you’ve already begun tasting that

freedom and wealth you so richly deserve.

To your success,
