Dorine Mortelmans, Soprano Dorine Mortelmans obtained her master's degree in music at the Antwerp Conservatory. She then continued her studies at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel before joining Opera Studio Nederland. Dorine has appeared in various operas and theater productions with music. As an ensemble member at Theater Bielefeld (2016-2019), Dorine has sung the roles of Anne Frank (Anne & Zef, M. Krus), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Amor and Damigella (L'Incoronazione di Poppea, Monteverdi), Tebaldo and Voce dal Cielo (Don Carlo, Verdi), Gianetta (L'Elisir d'Amore, Donizetti), Ygraine (Ariadne and Bluebeard) and Coriphée (Amadis, J.C. Bach), Lissy (Benzin), Papagena (Die Zauberflöte). She has performed the roles of Blonde (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) for Alden-Biesen Zomeropera and for Midsummer Mozartiade (2019), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas) for Opera Zuid and the Opéra Royal de Wallonie, Serpina (La Serva Padrona), La Musica (Orfeo, Monteverdi), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Frasquita (Carmen) and Euridice (Orfeo ed Euridice, Gluck). For La Monnaie she has sung one of the six runs in The Fiery Angel (Prokovief) conducted by Kazushi Ono, Noémie in Cendrillon (Massenet), Haydn Amore, Little England, cover for Jano in Jenufa (Janacek) and Amour in Orphée et Euridice (Gluck/Berlioz). For Opera Vlaanderen, she has sung Stimme des Falken and Hüter der Schwelle (Die Frau Ohne Schatten), Amore (Il ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria), Daughter (Akhnaten, Philip Glass) and concert performances of Handel’s Agrippina Condotta a Morire. Dorine has also appeared as a soloist with various orchestras and choirs and under such conductors as Patrick Davin, Christian Arming, Koen Kessels, Leo Hussain, Guy Van Waas and Frank Agsteribbe. She has performed oratorios including Vivaldi’s Gloria, Handel’s Judas Maccabaeus, Dixit Dominus and Messiah, several Bach cantatas and Vic Nees’ Magnificat. Dorine has performed several concerts with the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège, including as the soprano soloist in Orff’s Carmina Burana.
