This leaflet provides you with information about South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive’s (SYPTE) proposals to build a Park & Ride facility at Dore & Totley Railway Station in Sheffield.

SYPTE is currently trying to secure funds to deliver this project. As part of this process we are progressing the design and consultation to ensure the park and ride can be delivered as quickly as possible when funding is confirmed.

Current arrangements

The current parking facilities at Dore & Totley Railway Station are inadequate and surrounding residential streets are crowded with parked cars which cause problems for local people. This causes traffic congestion and is not a situation which pleases either passengers wishing to use the station or people who live close by.

The story so far...

SYPTE purchased the site adjacent to the station in April 2010 with the desire to build a Park & Ride facility. In June 2010 the site was fenced off and the buildings on the site were demolished. It was not possible to allow temporary parking due to health and safety reasons at the site.

INTRODUCTION CONSULTATION EVENT BACKGROUND

To meet the project team and to ask questions about the proposals, SYPTE staff will be available at a drop in session on 20 January 2011.

Planning permission is required for the Park & Ride and through consultation, people are invited to provide feedback and comments on the outline proposals.

Following the review of all the information recieved during the four week consultation period a submission to Sheffield City Council will be made for planning permission in March 2011.

1. New entrance to the car park and railway station.

2. One way system around the car park.

3. 139 car parking spaces.

4. Blue badge parking facilities.

5. Pedestrian access point to the platform is maintained in current location.

6. Existing trees will be removed. A boundary fence/treatment will be incorporated as part of the design.

7. Proposal for new location for the bus stop in order that a safe pedestrian crossing facility can be provided.

8. Pedestrian crossing facility to be provided.

9. Designated drop off/pick up point including rail replacement services.

10. Entrance to vehicles will be closed.

11. Access to adjacent properties.

12. Covered cycle shelter.

13. Restrictions on Abbeydale Road South prohibiting parking, waiting and loading.
