Dora Mujaj 8A Elizabeth Blackwell Elizabeth Blackwell was born on February 3 rd 1821 in England and died on May 31 st 1910. When she was 11 years old she and her family moved to America. When Elizabeth Blackwell moved to America, she first went to New York and then she moved to New Jersey. Elizabeth wanted to become a doctor but it was very hard for her so she studied independently with another doctor. After Elizabeth studied with her tutor, she eventually got accepted to Geneva Medical College in upstate New York in 1847. Elizabeth Blackwell was well known because she was the first woman to graduate from medical school. She attended Geneva Medical College and because of this she inspired many women around the U.S to follow their dreams. Elizabeth Blackwell is motivational because she was the first woman to graduate medical school and she also helped create a school to train nurses. She helped standardize cleanliness in the medical field when she created the Association of Sanitary Council. Elizabeth Blackwell contributed to science and technology. She was important to science because she was the first woman to graduate from medical school.
