del Gobierno para la mitigación de contagios en los

departamentos con presencia de GIFMM local.

GIFMM COLOMBIA: Flash Update COVID-19

1 November 2020

This Flash Update provides updated information about

the situation at the borders and the needs of refugees and

migrants in light of recent events and registered cases of

COVID-19 in the country. This includes a report of

the measures adopted by the Government to mitigate

contagion in departments with local GIFMM presence.

Enero - Septiembre 2020

A septiembre 2020, 54.716 personas han sido afectadas

por confinamiento en Chocó, Norte de Santander,

Antioquia, Valle del Cauca, Cauca, Arauca y Nariño, como

consecuencia de enfrentamientos entre grupos armados

ilegales y otras dinámicas del conflicto armado. Las

personas afectadas pertenecen en su mayoría a

comunidades afrocolombianas, campesinas e indígenas.

BULLETIN ON CONFINEMENTS

January - September 2020

As of September 2020, 54,716 persons have

been affected by confinement in Chocó, Norte de

Santander, Antioquia, Valle del Cauca, Cauca, Arauca and

Nariño as a consequence of confrontations between

illegal armed groups and other dynamics of the armed

conflict. The majority of the affected persons belong

to Afro-Colombian, peasant and indigenous communities.

Premio Nansen de ACNUR 2020

El 1 de octubre, Mayerlín Vergara Pérez, Coordinadora Regional de la Fundación Renacer

en La Guajira, fue anunciada como ganadora del Premio Nansen por su trabajo contra el

tráfico y la explotación sexual de niñas y niños refugiados, migrantes y desplazados internos

en Colombia. La ceremonia virtual contó con la participación del Alto Comisionado de

ACNUR Filippo Grandi, Isabel Allende, Alfonso Herrera, Juanes y otras personas que

apoyan al ACNUR.

UNHCR's Nansen Refugee Award 2020

On 1 October, Mayerlín Vergara Pérez, Regional Coordinator of the Renacer Foundation

in La Guajira, was announced as the winner of the Nansen Refugee Award for her work

against the trafficking and sexual exploitation of refugee, migrant and internally displaced

children in Colombia. The virtual ceremony included the participation of UNHCR High

Commissioner Filippo Grandi, Isabel Allende, Alfonso Herrera, Juanes and other

supporters of UNHCR.

Factsheet Centro de Atención Integral (CAI) en

Maicao, La Guajira

Septiembre 2020

El CAI reabrió sus puertas el 17 de septiembre luego de 6

meses de haber suspendido nuevas entradas como

consecuencia de la emergencia sanitaria por COVID-19.

En este reporte se presentan la estrategia de reapertura,

los logros alcanzados, el mapa del centro y los servicios

que se brindan actualmente.

Factsheet Integrated Assistance Center (CAI) in

Maicao, La Guajira

September 2020

The CAI reopened its doors on 17 September after

suspending new entries for 6 months due to the health

emergency caused by the COVID-19. This report

showcases the reopening strategy, the results achieved,

the map of the center, and the services provided at

present.

Evaluación rápida de necesidades - Subregión

Antioquia - Chocó

Julio 2020

Esta evaluación fue realizada para medir el impacto del

COVID-19 en la población venezolana asentada en los

departamentos de Antioquia y Chocó. Esta fue

coordinada con el GIFMM nacional y complementa los

resultados de sus Evaluaciones Rápidas de Necesidades a

nivel nacional. Los datos reportados permiten

evaluar oportunidades, adaptar las estrategias actuales y

continuar respondiendo a las necesidades de los

beneficiarios del ACNUR en salud, educación,

conectividad, asistencia humanitaria, y soluciones

duraderas.

Multisector Needs Analysis - Subregion

Antioquia - Chocó

July 2020

This evaluation was carried out to measure the impact of

COVID-19 in the Venezuelan population living in the

departments of Antioquia and Chocó. Its development

was coordinated with the nationl GIFMM and it

complements the results of the national Rapid Needs

Assessment. The results reported allow to evaluate

current response strategies, to adapt and to continue

responding to the needs of UNHCR's beneficiaries

regarding health, education, connectivity, humanitarian

assistance, and durable solutions.

EVENTO DESTACADO /DONOR HIGHLIGHT

After many months of travel restrictions during the pandemic, with opening of internal flights

various donor embassies have recently resumed filed visits to projects implemented by UNHCR

and other partners, particularly along the border area.

Misión de Estados Unidos de América (PRM) a Cúcuta

El 5 de noviembre, PRM visitó los siguientes proyectos en Cúcuta, acompañado por ACNUR

y OIM: el Centro de Salud Margarita, el Centro de Atención Sanitario Transitorio (CAST) y el

área expandida del Hospital Erasmo Meoz que fue apoyado por el GIFMM desde el inicio de

la pandemia, para aislar y tratar casos de COVID-19.

United States of America (PRM) mission to Cúcuta

On 5 November, accompanied by UNHCR and IOM, PRM visited the following projects in

Cúcuta: the Margarita Health Centre, the Transitory Health Attention Center (CAST in

Spanish), and the area of the Erasmo Meoz Hospital which has been expanded by the

GIFMM since the start of the pandemic in order to isolate and treat cases of COVID-19.

Misión con ECHO a Cúcuta

Del 15 al 16 de Octubre, ECHO visitó en Cúcuta el Centro de Salud Margarita, el Centro de

Atención Sanitario Transitorio (CAST), el Hospital Erasmo Meoz y el Puente Internacional

Simón Bolívar y el Espacio Seguro para mujeres embarazadas y lactantes con necesidad de

una red de apoyo.

ECHO mission to Cúcuta

On 15 - 16 October, ECHO visited in Cúcuta the Margarita Health Centre, the Transitory

Health Attention Centre, the Erasmo Meoz Hospital as well as the Simón Bolívar

International Bridge and Support Space, and the Safe Space for pregnant and lactating

women who lack a support network.

Fortaleciendo relaciones la sociedad civil y ONGs en Corea

En octubre, ACNUR Colombia presentó su respuesta del ACNUR a la situación de los

refugiados y migrantes venezolanos en Colombia ante más de 40 profesionales del

consejo de ONGs coreanas (KCOC). El evento en Seúl fue una gran oportunidad para

discutir sobre temas de refugiados con miembros de la sociedad civil coreana, ayudó a

mejorar la comprensión del contexto en Colombia y permitió dar más visibilidad a una

situación que ha sido poco abordada en Corea.

Strengthening relations with the civil society and Korean NGOs

In October, UNHCR Colombia presented its response to the situation of Venezuelan

refugees and migrants in Colombia to more than 40 professionals from the council of

Korean NGOs (KCOC). The event in Seoul was a great opportunity to discuss refugee issues

with Korean civil society members, it helped enhance understanding of the context in

Colombia, and it allowed to give more visibility to a situation rarely dealt with in Korea.

status)

Residentes del Centro de Asistencia Integral en La Guajira, que continúa brindando atención psicosocial,

orientación legal y albergue, entre otros servicios urgentes, a más de 250 personas durante la pandemia. /

Residents of the Integrated Assistance Center in La Guajira, which continues to provide psychosocial support,

legal orientation and shelter, among other essential services, to more than 250 persons during the pandemic.

FINANCIACIÓN / FUNDING UPDATE

Financiación

Para que el ACNUR en Colombia pueda dar un respuesta

adecuada a refugiados y migrantes de Venezuela,

retornados colombianos, comunidades de acogida y

desplazados internos, inclusive a la emergencia del

COVID-19, se requiere un presupuesto de USD

96.6 millones en 2020. Al 10 de Noviembre, se ha logrado

recaudar el 61% del presupuesto requerido (USD 59.1

millones).

Funding Update

For UNHCR Colombia to respond adequately to the needs

of refugees and migrants from Venezuela, Colombian

returnees, host communities and internally displaced

persons, including during the COVID-19 emergency,

financial requirements amount to USD 96.6 million for

2020. As of 10 November, 61% of budget requirements

have been met (USD 59.1 million).
