TSUNAMI MUSEUM, NADUsing the scrap material from the debris of citizen’s house that had been washed by the tsunami wave that struck Banda Aceh, Indonesia, on 2004, we try to glorify each and every scrap. Believing that every scrap tells a story of the left one.

The use of the debris as a skin of the building giving it as a statement, both inside and outside; inside as an object of that museum itself, while outside as a monument for the citizen of Aceh NAD.

BALAIRUNG HALL EXTENSION

Simply by extending ‘what it should be’, the form of the old Balairung hall building came from Indonesian tradisional house.

The design simply proceed the old form into a form (more or less) known as ‘Limasan’, the traditional Javanese house form.

The diamond shape windows represent the Indonesian traditional bamboo plait. the two layer of platform will accomodate the audiance yet connected to the main (old) existing building.

PAKUAN DORMITORYThe idea is disordering the room module so that it gives a random-scattered effect on the facade, yet connected structurally and in utility way.

The material differentiation gives it an accentuation for each module, so that both (white and brick module) stands out respectively.

Using rainwater harvesting to be used as 2nd and 3rd class water usage. The building has 3 layers of filter, gradually filtered from top to bottom. So when the rainwater has been purified at the lowest container, it pumped all over the building again so that it can be used.

And the PV (photovoltaics) panels used as alternative yet cheap energy in future use.And it fits for Indonesian tropical climate.

Instead of giving one parking space for each lot, we use shared park space. Thus it gives new shape and typology to the office-house. The masses divided in a

way so that the offices are located at the middle of the mass (orange).

The 1st floor office space belong to the right side lot, while 2nd floor for the left. Thus it gives an interlocked space relationship.

I N T E R I O R P R O D U C T

This Final assignment for 3rd furniture design at Interior Design Study Program Bandung Institute of Technology starts from rattan theme. Students had been given a task to design an easy/lounge chair using rattan as the main material or structure.

I came up with the idea of using rattan residues from the rattan furniture factories in Cirebon.

There’s still a lot kind of residues that haven’t worked over yet. Pitrit was the most reasonable material that I can explore at that time.

The selected works will be built under the State’s Dept. of Industry and commerce of Indonesia.

This treaty were meant to stimulate rattan industry that have been fall in 2006, especially in Cirebon, as well as to encourage the student to produce high quality design.

ConceptWaste pitrit* Chair

Everyday, rattan furniture factory wastes pitrit* residues from production for about 5-10 Kg(*smallest dia rattan, ranging from 3-4 mm dia)

+Those pitrit residues has a variety of length, ranging from 5-15cm.It needs a basic interweaving as a foundation to plait the pitrit residues, thus it needs a wire mesh interweaving.

Like this cross pattern interweaving, it’s the right pattern for the pitrit resi-dues, because of the limitedness of the residues that can’t be plait continu-ously, this made the residues tied each other.
