ABOUT JEKYLL & HYDE & DON JUAN
Five hilarious performers meet you at the door of the venue. They bring you in, they show you to your seat, they flirt with you. Maybe they fall a little bit in love with you.
Then they tell a story - with you. Jekyll & Hyde and Don Juan are two distinct comedy theatre shows.
While the stories are well known, we tell them in a completely absurd and irreverent way.
Audience interaction is designed to put the audience immediately at ease: we make everybody feel successful and beautiful.
Our shows are fast and furious, mashing up styles of sketch comedy, music gig, physical theatre, and wit.
Don Juan (2015) and Jekyll and Hyde (2016) premiered at Circa Theatre Wellington. Both have gone on to return seasons, with Don Juan playing to four centres and over 3000 people in NZ.

We love our audiences, and they come back for more.
o Everyday adventurers: we are ‘boutique fringe’ – more high end than a grass-roots fringe show, a well-constructed show with a rambunctious, thrilling edge.
o Groups of friends or workmates: they enjoy dinner and a few drinks together, and like to try new things – but nothing too intense.

o Under 25s: enjoy the chopped up narrative and the contemporary gags and pop culture references.
Our shows are built to tour. There are 7 on the road. We have minimal pack in and out needs, a small sound & lighting rider, and all of our sets, costumes and props travel in 5-6 suitcases which are also used as props.
We can play almost anywhere for audiences of up to 250: Theatres, bars, clubs, schools, tents, large living rooms, even offices. We adapt the performance to suit the space.
We are audience focused. The performers warmly invite the audience into the work and gently warm them up to the experience. Strong improvising skills mean our performers read the room and the audience and pitch the interaction to suit. Even the most reluctant and dubious members of the audience are eventually charmed by the performers, and seduced into the collective experience.
The shows have universal themes. Don Juan celebrates the fool in all of us. We hilariously depict how we often fail to be the person we wish we could be, despite our best efforts. Jekyll & Hyde encourages us to take a look at our dark side, and embrace our inner monster. Pop culture references are abundant, making it easy to relate to.
Social media is our playground. We quickly generate short format video content for upload on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. These can include stories, patron thank-yous, public service announcements.
There is loads of great live music and an epic fight scene in each show. Did we mention our people can sing? We cover Beyonce. Kanye West. Fiona Apple. Erykah Badu. Sharon Jones. Devo. Missy Elliot. System of a Down.

Meet the most delightfully evil man alive: Mr Hyde, a man so evil he punches the cleaning lady, drop-kicks a quokka and yells ‘shark’ at the beach. This mad-cap rendition of Jekyll and Hyde celebrates the darkness within us all. A completely reworked version of Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel, into a terrifyingly hilarious theatre-comedy adventure for the 21st Century. Jekyll is the man who washes and separates his recycling before putting it out. Hyde is the man who uses the last of the toilet roll and doesn’t replace it before leaving the bathroom. Who does that? Who is this mad man?! A Slightly Isolated Dog have built a reputation for shaking up well-known stories, and injecting their trademark outrageous physical comedy and twisted pop songs to the telling. Focused on removing the barriers between audiences and performers and revelling in the silliness of their stories, the fast, furious and irreverent performances are an antidote to passive theatre.
