DOINGS AT THE LODGE
Dunmunkle Lodge Newsletter
October 2019
RESIDENT BIRTHDAYS
Betty Sanders and Olwen Cowan have celebrated birthdays since the last edition of ‘Doings at The Lodge’. We hope you both enjoyed your special day ladies and wish you well for those to come.
Dunmunkle Lodge’s 40th birthday
celebrations took place on the 6th of
October. Cr Graeme Massey, Mayor
of Yarriambiack Shire, commenced
this special event by welcoming
attendees which was followed by a
lovely lunch.
Later in the day special guest
speaker Leading Age Services
Australia State Manager, Sharyn
McIlwain spoke of Dunmunkle
Lodge’s “amazing sense of
community”, the royal commission
into aged care, and the importance
of being able to “age where you live
all your life and maintain being part
of the community”.
The day was a true celebration
acknowledging the many people
who have contributed to the
success of Dunmunkle Lodge over
the past 40 years. We sincerely
thank all who attended to help mark
this very special occasion.

kindly brought in buckets of these beautiful flowers – some of our residents happily arranged them in vases and
displayed them throughout The Lodge.
MINYIP KINDER
ECCM Sharon Taylor
recently visited the
Minyip Kindergarten
where she spoke to the
kids about being a nurse
and the importance of
hand hygiene. The
children also visited The
Lodge on the 21st of
October and did a little
performance which was
lovely.
On the 23rd of August Ben Carroll from Goulburn Valley Food Safety Services was
on site to conduct a Food Safety Audit. The results of this audit showed that
Dunmunkle Lodge was fully compliant. Management would like to thank and
congratulate all staff on a job well done!
Several residents boarded the bus and headed across to
the Murtoa Show at the beginning of the month.
Weather-wise it was the perfect day for it. Our residents
should be very proud of the results from their show
entries which included;
1st Prize: Lemons
1st & 2nd Prize: Painting – any medium (Ellen Niewand)
1st Prize: Crochet knee rug or shawl, any yarn
2nd Prize: 3 Violas
2nd Prize: Bunch of Rhubarb, six stalks
2nd Prize: Bunch of Silverbeet, six stalks
THANK YOU TO THE MINYIP PHARMACY
We greatly appreciate your kind donation of scented drawer liners for residents here at the Lodge Nikki!
They have been put to good use. Thank you so much for thinking of us!
