Terry had concerns that the gas bill was higher than last month and the club is closed. Terry tried to sign in
electronically to view the account and was unable to do so. Apparently, the emails that were used to setup the
account are still active. Terry and John Delescavage will contact the company to update the emails. John stated
that the price of propane has increased. Terry noted we paid for 631 gallons at $1.1056 a gallon.
March Monthly Report: Jane Frantz made a motion to accept the March monthly report and Carolyn
Dumaresq seconded. Motion carried.
April Monthly Report: John Delescavage made a motion to accept the April monthly report and Wendy
Basehore seconded. Motion carried.
Terry stated if you look at balances through April, we have over $70,000 in checking account. We will
continue to transfer money monthly to savings.
Checking: $78,679.28 Savings: $32,007.99
Recording Secretary – Jane Frantz - None
Barker Information & Communications – Jen Tetkoskie –
Jen stated that the Barker should be finished tonight and sent to members tomorrow. Cindy will email Heidi to
get her bio in the next Barker.
Building & Grounds – John Delescavage –
John stated that there are still some issues with the new waste disposal drivers. He is in touch with the office
and hopefully everything will be resolved. Angie has taken care of lights, washed the floor, area rugs and rugs
in office. Green mats will need fresh tape. John checked both sheds and upstairs to check for rain damage.
Everything appears fine. Fred has been mowing grass. The area in back of club is very spongy from all the
rain.
Events – Carolyn Dumaresq/Jackie Lebbon –
The May 18-19 agility trials have been cancelled. At this time, the July 4-5, 2020 Yellow Breaches agility trials
are still a go. Still on the schedule are Judy Kolva event May 29, Claudia Bates seminar for June 6-7 (seminar
closed), and Imhoff seminar for 11/21-2. Carolyn stated that before we hold events that we will get guidance
from the governor about having activities for 10 or under.
Jackie Lebbon stated she has some ideas and working on doing online classes where students would videotape
working with their puppy. Students could send either videos or questions through email or have their own
group on Facebook live. Cindy noted that this is a wonderful idea, however, we need something in writing to
review the process.
Obedience Registrar/Director – Toni Lugosky/Jane Frantz -
Jane Frantz stated that the obedience committee voted to cancel the June Obedience/Rally Trial and to
reschedule the June Obedience Match to September 13th. All people that were signed up for June’s match were
transferred to September’s match. For the Obedience / Rally Trial, Bonnie sent an email to everyone and
shredded their checks. Carolyn stated that for the people that donated money for awards she will be sending
email that the money will be used for the November trial. The ribbons that Karen Frese ordered have no dates
so they can be used for November’s trial. Jane stated that the obedience mini session starting end of May might
still be held with the yellow guidelines.
Agility Registrar/Director – Carolyn Dumaresq/Judy Kolva –
Carolyn stated that if we move into the yellow, agility classes could be held because there wouldn’t be more
than 10 people at one time. Only problem would be beginner I and II classes.
Supplies – Lauren Zagnit –
Lauren stated we have several gallons of Odor Ban and that gets rid of 99.9% of any germs/bacteria. We have
plenty of Lysol and Clorox wipes. We do need hand sanitizers for humans. John stated there is a company
called Botach and they handle all kinds of disinfectants and sanitizers for the military, etc. and sell to the
general public. Cindy stated we need a flyer from the state with the COVID 19 procedures and posted at public
entrance and signed by John Delescavage (Building) and Cindy Miller (Safety officer). Cindy noted that
opening under yellow - any business that serves the public must take these precautions; Conduct business by
appointment only, must wear masks, hands washed every hour, must wipe down all doors and also recommend
taking temperature of anyone entering the building. Carolyn stated she wouldn’t feel comfortable opening the
building unless there was a board member who would be responsible for setting the schedule for times to open
train and sharing responsibility of making sure when people come in building, they do what they are supposed
to do inside building.
Website-Wendy Basehore –
Wendy stated they are currently loading information onto the new website.
Old Business:
ACTION ITEM: Flooring Report – Tabled
ACTION ITEM: Club computer – Word Processing/Spreadsheet Software (IT committee) – Su stated
committee had a meeting and talked about word processing / spreadsheet for club computer. Talked about the
printer and sent an email to Ricoh about printing through Bluetooth and whether it bypasses the passcode which
Su thinks would be a problem, but hasn’t heard back yet from Ricoh. Also asked when lease expires and have
that on our list when that happens. Cindy stated that she understood that Jared had resigned from committee
and does she need to appoint someone new on committee? Su doesn’t think we need another person.
ACTION ITEMS: Awards Committee – Carolyn contacted Sharon Leh and Sharon has named her appointee
as Tim Leh. Carolyn and Bonnie had a conversation as to who to appoint if they should be an honorary member
but should be an active member. Carolyn stated they have a person they would like to recommend for a
member of committee.
New Business:
ACTION ITEM: Joining PA Federation of Dog Clubs – Cindy stated there was concern last month about
Federation having access to membership. In conversation with them, they are fine with last names and no
contact information. When our application is accepted, we need to appoint two delegates to the Federation.
PFDC dues cycle is July. However, due to the Covid and cancellation of so many events, there will be no dues
this year. Su is to submit the paperwork, membership list and $25.00 application fee. All PFDC notifications
will come directly to Su who would send out to the membership list. Jane Frantz made a motion to join PA
Federation of Dog Clubs and Bonnie Reifsndyer seconded. Motion carried.
COVID 19 Updates – Under Yellow designation, indoor recreation is not permitted. Darin Cox is reaching out
to the Department of Agriculture for an interpretation of the Yellow and dog training clubs. Cindy, Bonnie,
Carolyn and Jane will get together to set up a policy for when Dauphin become yellow.

Respectfully submitted,
Jane Frantz
IMMEDIATELY THERE IS A $10 FINE FOR NOT PICKING UP AFTER YOUR FUR KID.
My name is Heidi Stum and my mom made me do it!
When I was 11 years old, my mom decided we should get a collie and I should train her. I remember class nights at the Farm Show Building, the DDTC instructors in their red jackets and lots of dogs – I still have my first Basic Obedience graduation certificate. My first and last obedience show with this dog was somewhere in York in the rain. I think we placed because no one else showed up! Fast forward 15 years and my mom is dragging me to the latest collie’s groomer, who just happened to have sheltie pups. I immediately fell in love with the breed, and so began an amazing journey in obedience/agility. Tori was my first true introduction into dog training, and she finished her career with her obedience Open title. Sami took high in trial at one of our obedience trials, and her beautiful face graces the obedience wall. I should mention that for Christmas one year my mom gave me a book on teaching dog obedience classes – what?!! Several shelties later, enter Zoe, who rocked my world. She opened me up to all the possibilities of dog training. The next
thing I know I am teaching basic obedience and rally. For a short time, I was also the Director of Obedience until my real job interfered, and I had to give it up. But during that time, I was able to introduce the clicker into the curriculum. I loved teaching - the joy of watching students and their dogs connect was priceless and so rewarding for me. Unfortunately, Zoe was shy and it prevented us from really excelling. After MUCH prodding from Bonnie Reifsnyder, I decided to put her in a ‘silly’ agility class. WHO KNEW? Zoe and I both fell in love with agility, and I have been addicted ever since that first class. Zoe still couldn’t overcome her shyness but my greatest achievement with her was her Excellent Jumper’s title, with much thanks to Cathy Markley. And then there was Piper who took me on a wild and crazy ride for 11 years. One week prior to her 11 birthday she received her PACH2 and high in trial on a magical weekend at In The Net. Piper couldn’t compete with the speed of the fast dogs, but that weekend she qualified 5 out of 6 runs. No other dog could match her performance, showing me that anything is possible. I’m sure Carolyn Dumaresq remembers me screaming in her ear when she called to tell me that Piper’s picture would now appear on the agility wall. Now my journey is with a little girl named Cheer who is stretching me to become an even better handler. To all of the DDTC instructors who have been with me, guiding me with patience and persistence, THANK YOU. You are truly great instructors and our club is so lucky to have you. And of course, love and gratitude to my mom, whose small nudges propelled me into a life filled with incredible dogs and amazing friendships. Gotta go now – have to work on some weave poles…….

COVID 19 and DDTC
Dauphin County is now “Green” and the Building is now available for open training. Guidelines for the “Green” Phase is published in this issue of the Barker.
Thanks to Judy and Carolyn and Jane and Toni for working hard to get our classes up and
running again. First, they worked on the Green guidelines so that all instructors were happy with the wording. You will note the blue x on the floor which is for the agility classes to ensure social distancing and a chair sits in the kitchen for the on deck dog. You will note that we have three obedience rings and three doors. Each door is designated for a ring to ensure distancing
coming in and out of the classes. They all worked very hard to make sure our building was compliant with the state and CDC guidelines.
An important link to the AKC Chief Veterinary Officer was on our Facebook page that
discusses Covid 19 and your dog.
Life is changing. Please visit our Website or Facebook page every day for the latest at DDTC. If you have any questions or concerns, please send me an email.
Cindy Miller
DDTC GUIDELINES
TO BE COMPLIANT WITH PA “GREEN PHASE” The DDTC will be implementing the following policies to be compliant with the Green Phase as outlined on the PA.GOV website.
• The building will be open to all FOB holders. FOB holders are responsible for sanitizing all
public ‘touch’ points, ie door handles, faucets, tops of tables, etc. Use Odo-Ban and mist
those points. You do not need to wipe afterwards.
• Training Classes will restart
• Do NOT come to the building, if you have a cough, fever or any of the symptoms of COVID 19
• Bring your own sanitizer and/or wash your hands often while at the club. Wash or sanitize
your hands when you have finished training.
• DDTC Crates are available for public use. You must spray the crate with Odo-Ban after you
remove your dog. This should air dry. You do not need to wipe out the crate. DO NOT
SPRAY if there are dogs in neighboring crates.
• The building will be limited to 50 people. (Green phase permits gatherings less than 250
people or 50-75% occupancy)
• Masks / Social Distancing: In the green phase, masks or social distancing are required. Therefore, in order to maintain social distance during classes, masks must be worn outside the ring. When in the ring, social distance must be maintained if both parties are not wearing masks. (President Note: Each instructor will inform the students of what is required in their class)
