D O G O B E D I E N C EPuppy Class is designed to provide a positive environment forsocialization of puppies to a wide variety of people as well as toeach other. Early socialization has been shown to greatly reduce theincidence of both human-directed aggression and dog-dog aggression,as well as anxiety and fear based behavior problems. Additionaltopics will be discussed such as addressing the common puppy issuesof house training, mouthing, leadership and preventing behaviorproblems. Puppies will also learn sit and begin recall training (coming

when called). This class is appropriate for puppies ages 24 monthsold. Dogs must have received at least two rounds of vaccinationsprior to attending. If your dog has not yet received the second round, please plan to attend class without your pGruppy until the secondround of vaccination has been administered.

Obedience 101teaches the basics of obedience: sit, down, stand, recall (coming when called), stay, and heeleverything yourcompanion dog needs to know! Both verbal commands and handsignals will be used. Dogs of any age may take this class. Positivereinforcement techniques will be used, so please bring food rewardsor a small toy with you to class.

Obedience 102 is focused on honing the skills of Obedience 101.Additional levels of difculty and distractions will be added. Dogsof any age may enroll provided they have a basic knowledge of basicobedience commands: sit, down, recall (coming when called), stay, and heel.

Canine Good Citizen (CGC) class covers the 10 aspects of theAKC CGC test, the only AKC certicate available to all dogspure-and mix-breed. The CGC program is designed to encourage dogowners to train their dogs to be Canine Good Citizens and includesthe following: accepting a friendly stranger; walking on a loose lead;sitting politely for petting; allowing basic grooming procedures;walking through a crowd; sitting and lying down on commandand staying in place; coming when called; reacting appropriately to

another dog; reacting appropriately to distractions; calmly enduringsupervised separation from the owner. The CGC test is administeredon the last night of class. Children training dogs must be at least 12years old. Dogs must wear a at buckle collar for the test, no trainingcollars, head halters or body harnesses are permitted during the test.

Rally is a fun spin on traditional obedience for both the dog andthe handler. Rally is a sport in which ALL dogs are encouragedto participate. Purebred or mixed breed, every dog can learn thefundamentals for Rally. Dogs must have strong heeling skills totake this course. In rally an enthusiastic attitude and wagging tailare as important as precision. In fact, handlers are not only allowedto, but encouraged to positively reinforce their dogs during the

competition with verbal praise, petting, and even food rewards!Dogs and handlers should both appear to be enjoying the work andeach others company.
