Bloodhound – Introduction Aka, Sleuth Hound, Sleughhound, and Slot Hound,

the Bloodhound is the oldest breed of hounds to hunt entirely by scent. These dogs are capable of following trails more than 14 days old. This makes them the perfect dogs for hunters as well as law enforcement.

Bloodhound – History The Bloodhound has been documented as early as

the 3rd century A.D. There were two strains that developed from the original strain: "St. Hubert's Hound" and "Southern Hounds". The St. Hubert's line were exported to Great Britain during the 11th century where they became the Bloodhounds we know of today (PetWave).

Bloodhound – Trainability Bloodhounds are stubborn and intelligent.

They can sense when you are being soft and will try to manipulate you. You need to be consistent and confident without being stern or forceful. If possible, you should enroll a Bloodhound in tracking activities to keep them happy and entertained (PetWave).

Border Collie – History Border Collies have been documented since the 1st

century. The Romans used them to herd their livestock. When the empire collapsed, Vikings cross-bred their smaller herding dogs with the Romans' dogs to produce smaller, more agile dogs. Modern Border Collies can be traced back to a dog named Old Hemp, who was born in the 1890s in England (PetWave).

Border Collie – Trainability

Border Collies are intelligent and observant. They can be trained to do just about any task. However, they can also be mischievous. They need to be trained early. When training them you need to use a gentle but confident tone. They can be trained for herding farm animals or for competition (PetWave).

Doberman – History

Dobermans originated in Germany in the late 1800s. They were developed by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann. He cross-bred different dogs to develop a breed that would be aggressive enough to protect him. It wasn't until the 1920's that Dobermans were introduced to the United States(PetWave) .

Doberman – Trainability

There are variable levels of trainability in Dober-mans due indiscriminate breeding. Some will take to training well while others will be stubborn. Despite this, they should be trained with consistency and a strong leadership. Once leadership has been established, they will take well to advanced training (PetWave).
