HOPPER MEDITATIONRICHARDTUSCHMAN

Page 27: dodho issue 8

For the past year and a half or so, I have been makingimages inspired by Edward Hopper’s intimate interiorscenes. I like the idea of creating open-ended narrativesthat hopefully evoke some of the complexities of thehuman condition.

ROAD TRIPDJENEBA

ADUAYOMI can’t see without my camera. I’m blind exceptfor when I look through a lens. The world is black,I bump into walls, cross crowded streets. Butwhen my eyes peek through refracted vision, Ican see everything, capture all movement. Thesway of the sun, the lilt in the light.

LIGHTS AND STYLEIRVIN RIVERA

When I was younger I used to see patterns oflights that other kids can’t see. My eyes wouldshow me a cluster of soft, circular colorful orbsinstead of a supposed to be a single light bulbfrom a lamp post.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS OF THE 21ST CENTURY

CHRISTINESIMPSONMy work is a response to the ongoing and unre-solved environmental concerns of the 21st cen-tury: the changing weather patterns, disappearing ice, rising sea levels, deforestation, pollution etc. Eco systems have their own naturalrhythm. They produce and renew on their own.Unfortunately the natural life cycle has becomestressed by profligate human activity, resultingin global imbalance and a lack of connection tothe Earth. I am attempting to define the world welive in by contrasting aspects of a disintegratingplanet with a reverence for the beauty of all livingthings.

THINGS INVISIBLEMAGDAWASICZEK

My pictures are rather a record of impression, co-lors, flashing lights than the encyclopedic docu-mentation. I’m trying to get as many effects atonce while taking photos.
