Difficulty Level and Our Resolution
• Learning a BPM tool is not easy– Structured modeling (ARIS) vs. unstructured
modeling (Visio without plug-ins that now provide a structured modeling approach)
• Re-educating analysts to think structurally with new modeling concepts took a while
• Yet, one repository-one tool has made the difference

• The Process Model has examples of best practices, so any documents that spread process knowledge and information are useful.

Why it’s important to have process model
• The goal is to create a well understood, agreed upon, process that:– promotes problem/issue identification up front– minimizes the chance of re-work – establishes expectations for required deliverables and
their quality – creates consistency in what we measure and how we
evaluate a project’s status and success– provides a basis from which we can learn from each other– improves the process in a continuous fashion
