Assignment Scenario

You have been commissioned by the ‘Documentary Channel’ to make a documentary within your local area. The client has not specified a certain subject matter, but you will need to research and create your own original documentary topic; whether this is historical, topical or cultural.

Before producing pre-production materials you must firstly develop both a primary and secondary research log about your preferred topic in order to fully realise your idea. Some popular documentaries made in previous years involved; ‘Hull in the WW2 Blitz’, ‘Hulls Local Bands’, ‘Drug Abuse in Hull’, etc.

It is imperative that you include a range of interviews that reflect varied attitudes and opinions about the topic you have chosen – your documentary must take an unbiased look at the topic you are examining and therefore must contain as many approaches to the subject matter as possible.
