Information is included on: headcount enrollment, full-time enrollments; total student credit hour of part-time students; full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollments of part-time students; total of full-time and FTE of part-time enrollment; FTE enrollments based on total student credit hours by level of students; nonresident headcount undergraduate enrollments by state using students' reported home address; nonresident headcount enrollment by tuition residency status; nonresident headcount graduate and professional enrollments by state using students' reported home address; headcount enrollments by county of residence for North Dakota students; total in-state enrollment by county of origin; institutional enrollment by county of origin; headcount enrollment at North Dakota colleges by race; headcount enrollment at North Dakota colleges by citizenship, veteran status, sex, marital status, and transfer status; and total student credit hours produced by course level.     Included in this publication is the enrollment

    data supplied to the North Dakota State Board of

    Higher Education by the institutions of

    postsecondary education. The staff of each

    institution responsible for supplying this data

    deserve the special thanks of each consumer.

  • DEFINITIONS

    STUDENT -- All students taking resident credit, irrespective of the time of day or workload of the student. NOT INCLUDED ARE:

    a. Students in noncredit adult education courses, b. Students taking courses at home by mail, radio, or

    television, c. Students enrolled only for "short courses", d. Auditors, and e. Students studying abroad.

    SPECIAL/UNCLASSIFIED STUDENTS -- Students taking undergraduate or postbaccalaureate level credit courses regardless of intention concerning a degree, diploma, or certificate although taking courses in regular classes with other students; this category also includes students who cannot be classified by academic level.

    UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS -- Students who are enrolled in an undergraduate program. The year-level designation of undergraduate students will be determined by institutional policy.

    GRADUATE STUDENTS -- Students who hold the bachelor's or first professional degree, or equivalent, and are candidates for a graduate degree.

    PROFESSIONAL STUDENTS -- Students who have completed the baccalaureate degree and are enrolled in a postbaccalaureate program leading to a professional degree in law or medicine.

    COMMON MARKET STUDENTS -- Students enrolled at Moorhead State University or Concordia College but registered for one or more courses at NDSU.

    CREDIT HOUR -- The unit by which an institution measures its course work for application towards a degree.

    RESIDENT STUDENTS -- Resident students, for the purposes of this report, are students having legal domicile in North Dakota.

    NONRESIDENT STUDENTS -- Nonresident students, for the purposes of this report, are students having legal domicile other than North Dakota.

    HEADCOUNT ENROLLMENT -- All students enrolled at the institution following the fifteenth day of classes of the registration period who are receiving resident credit for courses that are included in the institutional time-table and taught by institutional faculty as a part of their normal load.

    FULL-TIME ENROLLMENTS -- The same as Headcount Enrollment except they are enrolled for the following student credit hours or more:

    a. Undergraduate 12 b. Graduate 12 c, Professional 12

    PART-TIME ENROLLMENTS -- The same as headcount student enrollment except they are taking less than the following student credit hours:

    a. Undergraduate 12 b. Graduate 12 c. Professional 12

    FULL-TIME EQUIVALENT ENROLLMENT OF PART-TIME STUDENTS -- The student credit hours accumulated at the undergraduate level divided by 16 plus the student credit hours accumulated at the graduate level divided by 12.

    FULL-TIME EQUIVALENT ENROLLMENTS BASED ON STUDENT CREDIT HOURS -- The total accumulative student credit hours registered divided by the following:

    Undergraduate 16 (100-400 number courses) Graduate 12 (500 and above number courses) Professional Same as headcount -- Law and Medicine Occupational 18 -- Selected Programs

    STUDENTS' REPORTED HOME ADDRESS -- The official home address as reported by the student. If none is reported the parents' address and then the local campus address is used.

    TUITION RESIDENCY STATUS -- Official institutionally determined residence for tuition purposes.
