Community College of Rhode IslandREPORT ON JOB PLACEMENTAND EXTERNAL TRANSFER
OF 1987 GRADUATES
The Report on Job Placement and External Transfer cf 1987Graduates covers two major areas: the employment status andapproximate salary ranges of graduates who joined the work forceand a list of colleges and universities currently attended fulltime by graduates who elected to continue their education.
This report helps to identify the goals and career directions of1987 s lduates of the College and provides important informationthat can ,e used in the recruitment and advising of students. Itis hopea that it will be useful to both prospective and currentstudents, to guidance counselors in the state and to businessesand industries that are potential employers of our graduates.
In order to obtain the information contained in this report, asurvey was conducted by the Job Placement Office on a continuousbasis from December, 1987 through March, 1988. First, aquestionnaire was mailed to the graduates and the return wasapproximately 32.5%. As a follow-up, a telephone survey wasconducted which produced a return of an additional 57 %., A sampleof the questionnaire used can be found on p.59.
The survey results show that 72% of the graduates are employed,23% of the graduates are continuing their education and 5% of thegraduates are unemployed. Some graduates are both employed andcontinuing their education. Average salaries, based on a fortyhour work week, are indicated for each program. A furtherbreakdown of these statistics can be found within the report.
