Late Shri Pirojsha Godrej was disturbed by the plight of workers’ children, who would while away their time on the streets. While building up the Industrial Township at Vikhroli in late 1940s, Pirojsha thought of addressing this issue by providing better educational facilities to the workers’ children. His vision of education as a means to ensure a bright future for these children gave birth to the idea of setting up the school. Udayachal Schools, which stands as a magnificent edifice on the campus of Godrej Industrial Township at Vikhroli, are an epitome of this vision of Pirojsha. In the year 1965, Udayachal Schools started their own magazine called 'Uday' which means 'Rise'. This magazine today serves as a tool to explore its history and its journey till date. This month Godrej Archives brings to you the cover page of the first printed issue of Uday.
