Requirements

Admission decisions are based on several criteria including GPA (graduate and undergraduate), a writing sample,GRE scores (analytical writing, verbal, and quantitative), letters of recommendation, and an individual interview with

program faculty.

A master's degree in an appropriate field related to this concentration is required for admission to the PhD inEducation program.

Off Campus Programs are offered through a blended delivery model

Each off campus program lasts 22 months and consists of 11 courses taken in sequence. Somecourses in the program may be delivered entirely online, some courses through face to faceweekend classes (two weekends during the 8 week term) and some courses that will combine

some online instruction with one weekend of face to face instruction. Depending on the course, thedate(s) when classes meet during the 8 week term will vary.

Classes tentatively begin June 18, 2012 with a two week face-to-face session followed by 5 weeksof online study. That is:* June 18, 2012 - June 29, 2012 - on campus at MSU* July 2, 2012 - August 3, 2012 - online



he academic year for the Cohort Ph.D. program is divided into two six-month terms: January 1 toJune 30 and July 1 to December 31. At the beginning of every January and July approximately 20

new students and all returning students come together for nine days of Academic Residency inCincinnati, Ohio. The students move through the doctoral program as members of cohorts that are

formed within and across the program’s three areas of concentration. The cohort model leads to

the formation of academic communities through regular and sustained interaction among students

Ph.D. students are required to attend a minimum of six credit hours of coursework at the Lincoln

campus during the completion of their program of studies.
