The Possible Frequency Bands for Smart Grid • Presently, most of investment for smart grid are on wired solution.
• The Wireless SUN/Smart Grid have been promoted in recent years.
• The possible frequency bands for wireless measurement instrument are:
• 189.9 – 223 MHz, BW < 200KHz, Ptx (e.r.p)< 10mw. dfmax<100ppm• 470 -510MHz, BW < 200KHz, Ptx (e.r.p)< 50mw. dfmax<100ppm. TX transmission period is shorter than 5
sec.• 630-787MHz, BW < 200KHz, Ptx (e.r.p)< 50mw. dfmax<100ppm
• The possible frequency bands for wireless control instrument are:
• 314 – 316 MHz, 430-432MHz, 433-434 mhz BW < 400KHz, Ptx (e.r.p)< 10mw. • 779 – 787 Mhz Ptx (e.r.p)< 10mw.

Actions in CWPAN/CWSN
• One Study group is organized at CWPAN/CWSN for Smart Grid and Meter Reading.
• Some critical Issues:• Typical Usage Cases ?• Wireless Communication Environment ?• Operation Frequency Bands?• Chip Solution (PHY, MAC) ?
• Create one group of national standards.
• Cooperate to IEEE802.15.4G and members. • Similar working style as: IEEE802.15.4C/E vs. CWPAN ???• Welcome any companies to attend CWPAN/CWSN meetings and join as members.
