The material in this document is subject to change in form and content after further study. The contributor(s) reserve(s) the right to add, amend or withdraw material contained herein.
Release: The contributor grants a free, irrevocable license to the IEEE to incorporate material contained in this contribution, and any modifications thereof, in the creation of an IEEE Standards publication; to copyright in the IEEE’s name any IEEE Standards publication even though it may include portions of this contribution; and at the IEEE’s sole discretion to permit others to reproduce in whole or in part the resulting IEEE Standards publication. The contributor also acknowledges and accepts that this contribution may be made public by IEEE 802.11.
Patent Policy and Procedures: The contributor is familiar with the IEEE 802 Patent Policy and Procedures <http:// ieee802.org/guides/bylaws/sb-bylaws.pdf>, including the statement "IEEE standards may include the known use of patent(s), including patent applications, provided the IEEE receives assurance from the patent holder or applicant with respect to patents essential for compliance with both mandatory and optional portions of the standard." Early disclosure to the Working Group of patent information that might be relevant to the standard is essential to reduce the possibility for delays in the development process and increase the likelihood that the draft publication will be approved for publication. Please notify the Chair <[email protected]> as early as possible, in written or electronic form, if patented technology (or technology under patent application) might be incorporated into a draft standard being developed within the IEEE 802.11 Working Group. If you have questions, contact the IEEE Patent Committee Administrator at <[email protected]>.

6. Patents
IEEE standards may include the known use of patent(s), including patent applications, provided the IEEE receives assurance from the patent holder or applicant with respect to patents essential for compliance with both mandatory and optional portions of the standard. This assurance shall be provided without coercion and prior to approval of the standard (or reaffirmation when a patent becomes known after initial approval of the standard). This assurance shall be a letter that is in the form of either
a) A general disclaimer to the effect that the patentee will not enforce any of its present or future patent(s) whose use would be required to implement the proposed IEEE standard against any person or entity using the patent(s) to comply with the standard or
b) A statement that a license will be made available without compensation or under reasonable rates, with reasonable terms and conditions that are demonstrably free of any unfair discrimination
This assurance shall apply, at a minimum, from the date of the standard's approval to the date of the standard's withdrawal and is irrevocable during that period.

Inappropriate Topics for IEEE WG/TG/SG Meetings
• Don’t discuss the validity/essentiality of patents/patent claims • Don’t discuss the cost of specific patent use• Don’t discuss licensing terms or conditions• Don’t discuss product pricing, territorial restrictions or market share• Don’t discuss ongoing litigation or threatened litigation• Don’t be silent if inappropriate topics are discussed… do formally object.
If you have questions, contact the IEEE-SA Standards Board Patent Committee Administrator at [email protected] or visit http://standards.ieee.org/board/pat/index.html

New Attendance Recording
• Harry and IEEE have been working on new attendance recording software– http://newton/11/attendance (172.16.0.10)
• It’s still under development!• If this new server breaks, then we revert to the paper
sign-in method– A sign-in sheet will be located at the Concierge desk– Each member must sign-in “once” (1) per day, between the hours of 07:30
and 17:30 local time– Participants must “sign” their name in the appropriate place and state of
attendance for 802.11 that day in terms of AM1/AM2, PM1/PM2, EV1 (if an evening meeting exists)
• Only “sign-in” for yourself, do NOT “sign-in” for and other participate.– These sheets are provided daily. If you don’t sign up during the “regular
sign-in” hours, you will NOT be given credit for that day.

A Friendly Reminder…
• The attendance server on 802wirelessworld will not be in operation this week
• Attendance will be recorded on a sign-in sheet
• Between 8 AM and 5 PM, go to the registration desk and sign the sheet and indicate how many of the meetings that day you did or will attend
• Do this once a day
Sign In!!!

One Other Item – Document Server
• There’s a local server that mirrors the documents on www.802wirelessworld.com that’s updated every 15 minutes– ftp://172.16.0.11/11 (the actual path is sometimes changed so log
into the root)
• Please use this server for downloads to conserve bandwidth on our link to the outside world
• For document submissions, use the web interface on www.802wirelessworld.com, as per usual

Review of plans for moving forward
• Use telecons to start resolving comments already submitted
• Agenda time for a “TGT State of the Draft” discussion at May session– Will have up-front discussion of what metrics, etc. we believe to
be required for completing the draft
• Begin a “TG Internal Review” soon after May meeting– Any new proposals must be integrated first
• Majority of agenda time in July meeting for resolving comments resulting from the Internal Review
• Agreed to slip process milestones by two meetings– 1st LB now projected for November meeting
