They say money isn’t everything, and there are times when that is particularly true — like when facing a critical illness. That’s why Lincoln Critical Illness Insurance is so much more than money. Yes, it pays a cash benefit to help cover the bills and everyday expenses that don’t take time off for recovery. But the insurance also comes with benefits for covered critical illness assessment tests, and services of a personal health advocate and more to help employees stay healthy or to aid in recovery.

•Lincoln Critical Illness Insurance pays a cash benefit when an insured person is diagnosed with a covered critical illness

•Benefits are paid in a lump sum and are based on diagnosis, not treatment

•Benefits may be paid for multiple illnesses and recurring illnesses in a category

•Personal health advocate and travel assistance services, along with benefits for covered critical illness assessments, are included, so employees can use their plan even if they’re never critically ill

•Benefits are offered on an employee-paid basis for minimum impact to your bottom line

The answer is simple. Take your employee benefits

package to another level.

themselves from the financial realities of

Personal health advocate services

A health advocate provides guidance through the healthcare maze, helping to navigate the system and avoid hassles. The health advocate can provide assistance any time, not just during a critical illness, helping with:

•Coordinating care among different providers• Identifying specialists to help with a specific condition•Scheduling appointments

•Finding clinical trials that could speed recovery•Getting the most out of their health insurance benefits•Negotiating fees

Support services

Those covered by the plan, and who experience a critical illness event, have access to a variety of support services — including referrals to community resources, support groups, and phone counseling — for help with a variety of issues:

•Coping with their illness/condition•Emotional concerns•Personal finances, including debt management and budgeting

•Legal concerns•Referrals for child care•Follow-up and monitoring

Travel assistance services

Our travel assistance services help arrange travel and lodging needed for out-of-town care for a covered critical illness, including concierge-type services such as finding a convenient market or laundry. This helps everyone involved focus on recovery — not on the logistics of a stressful stay away from home. Travel assistance also pays for medical evacuation and repatriation services when traveling more than 100 miles from home.

Note: In California and New Jersey, applicants must have major medical insurance to be eligible for critical illness coverage.

* In California, mammography is not included in the critical illness assessment benefit; a $200 mammography benefit (subject to frequency limits) is provided instead. In California, eligible tests include Human Papilloma Virus screening and any cervical cancer screening.

Wellness and recoveryAt the heart of our critical illness insurance is the Lincoln CareCompass SM program. It’s a package of benefits and services to help employees stay well and provide them guidance through their treatment process if diagnosed with a critical illness.Independent research shows those who experienced a critical illness found these types of services especially valuable because of their concern for the emotional impact on their family and difficulty navigating the treatment process. This assistance helps the patient stay focused on their recovery during a difficult time.

Here’s what’s included in the Lincoln CareCompass SM program:
